We recently visited this winery for my 60th birthday. The original winery we were going to would not let us bring in our own food or coolers. We were having a catered lunch. Wisdom Oak not only accommodated us, but they set up picnic tables and had tents covering the tables. We had such a fantastic time! Their wines were so good, we ended up buying a case for our family! It was a beautiful day!

It was such a pleasure to host your group and y'all were very generous with us as well. I am so glad Morgan (caterer) gave us a call to make the introduction. Thank you again for being a great group!

The only con here is the single lane, public gravel road with no shoulder most of the mile+ way in. I know the winery has nothing to do with it, but in a low sports car, we definitely wanted a drink after arriving. I would recommend visiting during the week as we did.

Joking aside, we ordered a flight when we arrived and Kelsey was fantastic. We talked to her for what seemed like hours about the wines and we sampled many they had. She also gave great recommendations on where to eat in town. I think the 2020 Rosewood was my favorite! Never had a rose made from Petit Verdot, but it was great! I also enjoyed their whites.. We'll be back!

My friends came from other states to come and visit me in Richmond and we decided to have a girl's day and go to wineries around Charlottesville. We went to three of them! I think this is the one we had the best time at! I was a little reluctant at first when you have to drive down a gravel road! But once you get there it is super nice! I liked that it wasn't crowded at all! The tasting was fun because the staff was super friendly and fun to talk to! I wish I remembered the man's name who did the tasting with us! But he was great! You could tell he loved wine, people, and his job! The owners were wonderful as well!

I also really liked that they had these adirondack chairs outside under a big tree in the shade where you can just sit a sip the wine and relax!

The only thing I suggest is that they provide some water! I noticed none of the wineries we went to did. It is really difficult to distinguish the differences between the wines during tasting!

Thank you very much for coming out to visit us with your group. We are glad you had a good time and have added water to the tasting bar for people to rinse or sip as they see fit!

NOW NAMED WISDOM OAK WINERY. We were a little hesitant to taste wine in what looked like someone's house after winding down the littlest country road (possibly ever). However, once you walk it, the tasting room is something out of Sonoma. It is very well furnished and decorated. We were able to taste five wines for $10. All of the wines were pretty decent, with the Petit Verdot taking the cake. I really wished we could have tried the Cuvee Neubia, but they were sold out. The tasting featured several different crackers to cleanse your palate and even a Cabernet Chocolate Sauce to complement the red wines. Our attendant was great and very knowledgeable. Overall, great experience.

I recently bought a deal for Sugarleaf through Travel Zoo. As a part of the deal, the winery advertised that we could take home two bottles of wine(up to $20 each). When we showed up, they limited our choices down to their two cheapest bottles of white wine, both were well below the $20 priceline. There was a $20 bottle of white wine(viognier) that I did like but they refused to let us take 2 bottles of that home.
When I brought up the fact about the terms of the deal and how it was false advertisement to write that we could pick our wine and then force two poor tasting wines on us, the lady just made a comment about how that was what the winery owner wanted. They made no attempt to resolve the issue but said that they would welcome our review, well here it is. I even attempted to bargain with them and give up our "$40 wine credit" for one bottle of red wine at $25, still no buge.
I believe if a merchant is going to offer a deal on Travel Zoo, Groupon or even the worest company aka Living Social, they should honor that committment in said deal. Also beware that their tasting room is over run by hundreds of stink bugs and the cellar where bathroom is located is infested with tons of fruit flies. I have been to a lot of wineries and never seen such an infestation. Kind of makes you wonder what goes into the wine, maybe more protein????

Wisdom Oak Winery and owner Laura truly blew me away. I called a few months in advance to see if we could use their space for a bridal shower and she said yes, that she would allow it for free as long as we bought wine. She was SO easy to communicate with during the months leading up to the event and even kept in touch re: the weather the week beforehand and offering to move the event inside or move it to the next day if the weather didn’t cooperate. That was already a huge blessing. Thankfully the weather ended up being perfect. What I wasn’t expecting was 1) The grounds to be so beautiful that I almost cried when I pulled up on the dirt road. The road to get there takes you through canopy of trees and when you’re finally there you truly feel like you reached a slice of heaven! 2) The wines were some of the best I’ve had, and 3) Laura was truly an angel. She went above and beyond to help me make this night one to remember, making multiple trips back and forth to bring me water and supplies I forgot, and even offering to help me decorate and blow up balloons. I was astounded at her hospitality. Thanks to her, it was a night we will always remember. I can’t wait to go back with my husband and dogs next time we are in the area! Thank you, Laura!!! You are a special human being and your winery is heaven on Earth.

Have been here several times and always a great visit. The wines are very good and I especially like their Tinto, a port style wine, it's delicious and I buy a bottle each time I visit. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly and you can sit inside or outside on the patio.

We truly enjoyed our visit to this small winery which had moved to a new updated building since our last visit 4 years prior. The owners did the tasting and gave us a nice description of the process. Very well done!

This is a darling little winery and we were thrilled to find it after huge crowds at some of the popular wineries nearby. You drive in on a dirt road and really think you've gone the wrong way but the little house at the end is the business. We were able to purchase a cheese plate which was perfect with our wine tasting. Very casual and friendly - we sat outside under a large tree and had a lovely day.
