Mountain walk
Dec 2019 • Couples
Well guys, this one ain’t for the faint hearted. We walked to La Victoria, up the mountain and then across to the opposite bay. Incredibly beautiful, but hard going, a little nerve wracking and signs - what signs? Loved every minute. Phew!

Enjoyable hike!

Worthwhile hike; very quiet and peaceful, appropriate for families with children who enjoy exploring and doing their own walking!

Walk in nature reserve between Cala Mezquida and Cala Ratjada
Oct 2014 • Friends
Talaia de Son Jaumell is the name of the watchtower on top of the hill with the same name.Lovely vieuws over nature reserve and the resort.
This nature reserve is an excellent walking area for shorter or longer walks.
It is possible to take a bus to nearby cala Mezquida and walk back to lovely cala Agulla and cala Molto beaches or start in Cala Ratjada and take the bus from Cala Mezquida.
Mediteanian Vegetation of local indiginous palm(Chamereops humilis) and pine trees.

Nicest mountain hike of Cala Ratjada.
Aug 2015 • Solo
Warning: Despite the short distance and the low elevation, this is not a leisurely walk, but a mountain hike of moderate difficulty. No tourists wearing sandals, please.

Talaia de Son Jaumell is a small, isolated mountain, 273 m high, 2 km north of Cala Agulla, 2 km east of Cala Mesquida, 1 km south-west of Cap des Freu, at the north-eastern end of Mallorca. Marked hiking paths lead up to the summit from Cala Mesquida from the west (marked with blue dots) and from Cala Agulla from the south (marked with red dots). Even though neither requires scrambling and there is no exposure, both are steep and may scare people not used to mountain hiking.

Recommended equipment: Light hiking boots (for very experienced hikers, running shoes may be sufficient), sun protection (hat, sunscreen), drinking water, hiking map "Caps del Nord", Editorial Alpina, scale 1:25.000.

Average hikers may need about an hour from either beach to the summit. A nice variant is to go up from one side, down the other, and return along the path over the Coll de Marina (84 m) to the south-west of the summit. That circuit may take about three hours.

Either way, you are rewarded by splendid views of the town of Cala Ratjada, of the beaches, and of the mountains to the west and south (Serra de Llevant). The ruins of a tower on the summit provide some shelter from the sun for a rest.
