The main supermarket is not the cheapest but is still one of the best in the area. Other than that there are some clothes boutiques, some eating places, a decent Worten, a Dunnes Stores, bargain shoes, petware and a few more.

The Palacio de los Condes de Frigiliana used to be a 16th century renaissance-style palace which belonged to the Count and Countess of Frigiliana, the Manrique de Lara family. Nowadays it tends to be known as El Ingenio and is believed to be the last remaining sugar cane honey factory in Europe. Just around the corner, Bar el Ingenio is... More

We go here often for breakfast, a snack or just a coffee or beer. Superb coffee, the cheapest in Frigiliana but closed in the evening. Lovely staff (husband & wife I think) good simple food & tapas, amazing views down the deep valley towards Nerja, complete shade or sun - the choice is yours! Dogs welcome as ours always accompanies... More

The building itself is very nice if you appreciate old industrial architecture, but the best part is the view from the garden. It ofres an amazing view of the gorge running by Frigiliana.

This is part of the backdrop rather than a place you can visit; it's a handsome former 17th century mansion (of the counts of Frigiliana) that became a sugar factory -- now just used for final refining and bottling the local molasses ('sugar cane honey'). Try the charming open air bar round the side (Bar el Ingenio)

Strictly speaking it is an imposing large building with some associated history, but..you can't go inside so you are restricted to saying it's a big building by the bus stop. It does produce black honey, or honey of the sugar cane, I suspect that the processing is best left as a mystery.

historic building one belonging to the local noble family and later converted to sugar-mill. it offers a scenic look down the rocky area around rio Higueron. From this spot a walk starts down into the gorge on a semi-dry river-bed in the RIO HIGUERON nature reserve.

El Ingenio is an imposing building at the beginning of the old town in Frigiliana. It is believed to be the last remaining Meil de Cana factory in Europe. Tucked round the side of it is a great little cafe bar serving good coffee at €1 and simple but tasty Spanish food. We like the Carne al ajo, Rosada and... More
