- Grace12 contributionsWarm Welcome & Funky AtmosphereSuch a cool setting for an alternative port tasting. This was our first stop on a little port crawl we were doing ourselves and we were greeted here by the loveliest host - as soon as we let her know we hadn’t a clue about port she spared no breath in explaining how it works and tips and tricks. All of the art work in the venue is funky and retro and you can have a browse around while waiting for your port tasters to be ready. All excellently priced - I bought earrings and two tasting sets and it only cost €16 and the chats without host were free and really nice. We will send friends here for sure ! It’s in the heart of Gaia so one to put on the listThank you for your review :) It makes us so happy that you enjoy your experience with us. :)Written September 16, 2021This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten August 18, 2021
- ScotmahnLittle Falls, New Jersey237 contributionsHidden Gem in GaiaWhat a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon in Gaia. We meandered through the gallery and admired the arts and crafts, then sat down for a couple of flights of port paired with a delicious cheese board. Maria directed us to the varieties she thought we would enjoy and we were not disappointed. The items in the gallery are beautiful and unique. They're a great alternative to the mass produced stuff in the souvenir shops and they support local artisans. One of the highlights of our trip to PortoVisited October 2022Written October 18, 2022
- John BNorthampton, United Kingdom16 contributionsA cheap alternative to the Port HousesAn "alternative" little gallery, set in an old warehouse in the heart of "port-land". We went for the port tasting and found a welcoming host and a fine sample of ports and cheeses. We chose the "basic" and "advanced" selections to share, along with two rustic cheeses from northern Portugal, tastefully presented. Our six ports, with the cheese cost approx 16 euros. We then browsed among the ethnic craft items, created by unassuming local arists and craftspersons, and bought presents for the family. Difficult to find but do persevere - such a friendly, welcoming ambience, as with so much of Porto.Visited February 2020Written February 13, 2020
- Robyn B.Santee, California9 contributionsAmazing, interesting, just try it…We stopped in this place on the way back from Taylor’s and if was by far our best experience so far in Porto. Two flights for less than 16 euros and an excellent host. We talked for hours, learning about port, and Portugal in general. If you want something interesting, off the beaten path… this is your place.Visited September 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten September 22, 2022
- Rain DOttawa, Canada3 contributionsWonderful shop and wine bar!My husband and I stumbled upon this place. What a find. Such a cute store full of fun and interesting items. We also stopped there for a glass of port, some cheese, bread and olives. All so good and a great price. Loved our experience there! Highly recommend.Visited August 2014Traveled as a coupleWritten September 22, 2014
- JenniferHuddersfield, United Kingdom22 contributionsMust visitThis little art shop is full of quirky and interesting items with friendly staff on hand to tell you more about them. Also, and perhaps the thing we most enjoyed was relaxing in the little cafe/tasting area and having a few nice glasses of wine and some roasted sausage (a specialty and entertaining to watch it cooked in front of you). The owner/manager Jorge was really passionate about the products and gave us lots of useful tips about places to visit in Vila Nova de Gaia and in the Douro Valley where we were heading next. A fun and different experience. Would recommend a visit to anyone.Visited September 2014Traveled as a coupleWritten September 12, 2014

Very much an arty co-operative with such lovely people and more crafts than art but don't let that deter you. Small producers provide the café with local cheese, meat and they have the 'Niepoort' seal of approval - everything delicious!! The staff were so lovely and very interactive - definitely a little gem hidden away but worth exploringVisited June 2016Traveled as a coupleWritten June 23, 2016
- Oliver K1 contributionAwesome place!I love this artists cooperative. They are so warm and nice to their guests. We left one hour after their actual opening times which was great because we weren't pushed out, we could stay as long as we wanted. They have nice design objects and arts and they have Nieeport port whines in great design bottles. I'll buy one when they are available in Germany. Thanks for the great evening! Keep up the great work!Visited August 2014Traveled as a coupleWritten September 11, 2014

- Bart S1 contributionFantastic local hidden gem among all the "too-touristic-tastaries".Forget all the fancy, touristic, overpriced and often dull tasteries in Gaia (that close already around 5/6 pm) and neglect all the street signs leading you there. Go to this place! An art-based gallery that, aside from the art of various upcoming artists, also provides a small scale of ports from Niepoort. But here you get an incredible warm welcome from the host Ana, who tells you everything from how some art is related to the ports to things like how the place is established. My girl and I felt really welcome and we were even showed around the place in the back where the artists work! Not to forget that the place closes at 8 pm and we left at 9 pm. She was open for us 1 hour more, to provide us an amazing evening, share our stories and enjoy the vibe, all while having beautiful, special but foremost tasting ports. Great spot, amazing host and superb find for those who don't like unwelcoming and commercial port tasteries. It was our first visit to Porto. We're no experts in Port. The amount of port tasting places can make it baffling. Some have odd hours, some close for lunch....some have surly rude staff. Whilst contemplating our options we found this little gem of a place.
Not technically a port tasting place. It's an arty farty shop. Big space. Lovely, knowlegable staff who do a proper port tasting session alongside some great tapas. We learnt the basics about port making (all we needed to know to be honest!). An enjoyable hour or so spent here.
Highly recommended.

we found that place while trying to escape the bubbly and touristy vila nova de gaia port houses area. it's a real gem. an art gallery with a bar, they made everything themselves with lot of creativity and originality, it's very charming and relaxing. the people there are very welcoming and took lot of time to explain to us everything about the art and the wine [which are the same things in a way]. we could see a very interesting exhibition about the celebration of the 600yrs of portuguese travellers. and for the wine i recommend the nieeport senhor tawny and white port that were very well suggested [for information, they also ship the wines abroad]
great place, great people, will return...

We visited this afternoon and tried a selection of their ports. It’s such a friendly, welcoming place and we stayed for a few hours. Great selection of art for sale and such a good vibe. The owners were super welcoming and lovely and our baby adored them.
