Every evening people gather to see the sunset over the Douro river. Its up by the cable car. You can get drinks and watch the sunset. There is always music too.Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 18, 2023

- ManngaDuaSingapore, Singapore531 contributionsGreat viewI walked to the park from Sao Bento crossing the bridge. The view is very nice overlooking the city. There are many tourists in the morning. I am sure there would be the evening crowd for sunset. The road is hilly, so it is advisable to wear good walking shoes.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 23, 2024

- laura b2 contributionsSunset, meeting friends, and .. a jacketIt looks like you going to have the experience of your life with the sunset and everything, which is beautiful btw , but if you are out side it is more for cocktails and like a friends reunion kind thing then .. because the music is loud and it has more of a club house vibe. So if you are with your lover , you may want to be inside near a window instead. Nevertheless , me and my partner had decent service , and we had the occasion to make new friends that were also speaking french , it was fun night … but , oh , bring a jacket ! In the city, i could have been in a summer dress , but up there, with the wind and the sun going down i was cold.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 29, 2024

Staying at a hotel in Ribeira, we decided to walk one day to watch the sunset from the Vila Nova de Gaia. So, we crossed the Ponte Luis I bridge and arrived to the hilltop garden. There was lots of people listening a live music concert, having drinks and watching the most beautiful scenery of Porto. This is an amazing place to take photos as we did. Highly recommended!

Great place to spend the afternoon with some friends or even alone. There are always some local or ex-pat musicians playing nice songs. Really one of the nicest views of Porto. Near to the beautiful Ponte Dom Luís, worth the visit.

Nice grassy park overlooking the Douro river and next to the top of the cable car. There was a few hundred people sitting on the hill listening to a guitarist/singer. Although not large it is a good place to relax and enjoy the stunning view. Easily accessible by bus, tram, foot or car.

This is definitely one thing to do when in Porto. One of the best views of Porto in front with a great backdrop of the Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar.
On Fridays and weekends, it can become crowded, but everyone is friendly and welcoming. Grab a bottle of wine on the way, stroll across the Luís I Bridge bridge, and enjoy the sunset!

I went here 3 days in a row. It's pricey because of the view, but the drinks were good, so it was worth it to me. My last night in Porto I stood on line by myself. Everything was completely disorganized, with groups of people cutting in front of me. When I said one, I was refused seating, being told they were full. I said I would wait and was told no. The girl just shrugged at me, so I left. So rude!

Very cool vibe in the evening at sunset and after. Music playing, general goofiness and relaxed tone. The views of Porto and the river are stupendous. Available venues to eat/drink cheaply or not near by. Don't miss!

What is the fastest way to get from Porto river front to jardim do Morro? Is there an elevator up the hill or best to walk up? Water taxi to Funicular? Thank you!

Hi Julie
Take the cable car from the river front it is not that expensive.
