Guided Port Wine Walking Tour

Get the max from a Porto stay by combining wine tastings with a sightseeing walk, complete with a guide for information you’d likely miss otherwise. Set off for a port wine cellar for a tasting, passing historical sights and hearing historical snippets about the city. Then, visit other wine houses to sample Douro and green wines. Snacks are served to bring out the best of your tastings.

it is a little crowded at times, but well worth it. Sit and enjoy the view. if you are into it, a good Port will be excellent company.

A fantastic viewpoint at the upper cablecar station, one of the best views you will get of Porto. They have landscaped a beautiful park here, including an amphitheatre- like set of curved concrete benches for you to sit on and drink in the view. The best time to go is in the evening as the sun sets. There will be musicians and a great vibe as a combination of tourists and chilled locals meet to chat and watch the sun go down over the Douro and Porto . I loved it here, I went back every evening I was in Porto!

There was a dual reason for visiting this garden on a Saturday night. Taking the D line, we crossed the Pont Luis I bridge inches from tourists crossing on the top level. We were careful to cross the train tracks at marked crossovers and started to climb the hill that is the Jardim do Morro. My husband climbed the extra 30’ to the top of the garden. We then walked down to the circular seating that faced the bridge and the gondola station. The vista from the seating was spectacular. We were at Mosteira the day before, but I liked this view better...maybe because the clouds that were beginning to gather for Sunday and Monday forecasted rains made the sky so very interesting. The second reason was that getting a good seat on the D line at Jardim de Morro heading toward Hospital São Joãn would be easier than from São Bento. It worked.

This little park is very handy for a number of reasons. Firstly it provides a nice rest area after a leisurely walk across the Dom Luis bridge with its spectacular views. Secondly, there are always benches available in shade or sun if you feel like reading, or even to sit and enjoy an ice cream. Thirdly, it contains the top end of the funicular and hence an easy way into the port tasting places and the restaurants frequented by the locals who work in these places. Fourthly, it is close to a few places many people want to visit such as Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar in Vila Nova de Gaia- though like most places here it involves a little climb. Lastly the metro passes just yards away and is an excellent way to avoid too many steep climbs. With all this going for it I think it@s worth a fifth star!

Very cute place to meet sunset. Bring with you some blanket, port wine and snacks - and enjoy life. There is just 1 minus - too much of other sunsets lovers.
