This viewpoint offers an excellent view of the city of Porto, the Douro, and the city of Nova de Gaia!
The monument is also very beautiful!
However, access requires a little effort for people who do not walk or exercise

Best view of Porto. Can be accessed via a small climb from Jardim do Morro (at the Gaia-end of the D. Luis bridge, when crossed on the upper deck). To get there, I recommend climbing one of Porto's scenic stairs (e.g. Escada da Verdade) or taking the Gaia "teleférico" (cable car) for 7€.

Was a monastery but now some part are used for military purposes. Entrance fee is 2€ but there's nothing much to see. Just think of the 2€ as a donation for them to manage / maintain the place.
The positive side is: the view from the monastery, overlooking Luis Bridge, it's beautiful!

It takes some climbing but I think you get one of the most beautiful views of the old town of Porto and the Luis I bridge in return. Given this, it is also quite busy. When visiting Porto, you really should not skip this place.

The church of Serra do Pilar sits on a huge rock on the south bank of the Douro River. Its terrace (Miradouro da Serra do Pilar) affords unbeatable views over the north bank including the Ribeira district. You find yourself even higher than the upper level of the Dom Luis bridge.
One can spend a good half hour up there picking out the landmarks of the city of Porto.
To get there, either walk across the upper level of the Dom Luis bridge or take the metro to Jardim do Morro station. Then walk south to the junction of Rua Rodrigues de Freitas, and the entrance (an inclined path) is right there.
I thought I might get some nice night views and waited till sundown, but alas Porto isn’t well lit at night.

This is certainly the best viewpoint overlooking Porto, especially the old town.
I has a spectacular view of the town, the river, the famous D. Luis bridge with its 2 passages (lower and upper) and the nice little garden of Gaia's side.
It is worth the climb and if you are lucky the nearby church will be open.

The view from the monastery is spectacular and it's just a 10 minutes walk from the S. Bento train station / Avenida dos Aliados.

Porto hasn't got so many Miradouros like the capital, but this one on the Vila Nova de Gaia side is the absolute best.
As it's located across the Douro river, from here you have unobstructed views of entire Porto with its landmark in front - the Dom Luis bridge.
Similar views you have down from the Vila Nova promenade by the wineries, but this is the elevated place with better views. Saying elevated, be prepared for a really steep climb from the river level, or take the gondola which takes you here directly.

we went there in the afternoon/evening. Amazing views over the river and Porto town especially during sunset - would recommend.
