Very instructive tour, because it was selguided with an audio kit, you could skip things you either knew already or that interested you less. It was "all about port wine and all about Taylor's" -nearly. The staff answered our questions after the tour up to the point of near "tricks of the trade". Tour ended with a very small tasting... Advantages of the audio tour mean that the route starts as soon as you get there, but i found the content rather lengthy and too detailed for my interests. The port, however, is delicious.

Audiotour, so you can choose your own tempo. Afterwards they have a perfect garden for tasting their ports. So relaxing. If you have some money left you better have lunch or dinner at their restaurant. The view is great and their food matches it. Service was a little bit of a struggle (they do their best but a suggestion: if... More

Close to our hotel and so we booked a table for 6. Large restaurant that was not very full but lovely decor and great service. Food and wine was also very nice indeed. The bill was surprisingly good value and you would certainly pay much more for the quality elsewhere.

No need to book ahead here or arrive at a specific time as the tour (12 euros per head) is self-directed with an audio guide. We spent a pleasurable and cool hour wandering through the lodge, learning about the history of port making, including everything about the actual process from the planting of the vines through to grape selection, fermentation... Audio guide tour with two tastes at the end for €12pp. Really informative. Very steep and hot walk up to the location but through lovely cobbled streets.

After visiting Cockburns and Graham's, this visit failed to meet our expectations. The others had beautiful settings, educational and worthwhile tours, and well thought out tastings. Taylor's was a self guided tour with an audio device, which was obviously not interactive and I couldn't wait to be done with it. The tour came with two port tastings at the end,... More

We made two visits to Taylor's; the first was for a tasting and the second to eat in their restaurant. We took the cable car down to the river terminus and then walked up the hill through the cobbled streets. Be prepared for a steep and tiring walk but worth it when you get to the oasis which is Taylor's!... More

Located opposite The Yeatman hotel (which Taylor's own) in the Rua do Choupelo (and a steep uphill climb), this is a pleasant estate but there are better visits than this (e.g.Graham's in the Rua do Agro, even if even the taxi driver lost his way taking us there). You are charged a flat 12 euros with an audio guide and... More
