Well worth doing, unique tasting - loved the Fado with the port. The tour was also good, but a large number of people. The port however was below average, perhaps the lowest quality I tasted in Porto and the Douro. No matter, overall a lot of fun and well worth doing.

It was our first port tour - quite informative - and the place is right on the river front so quite a lot of tourists. However, all the port was laid out on long tables after the tour - 2 tastes - and it wasn't great. Bit of a "hearding through" - so I'd try some other cellars that might... More

This was a very informative tour with lots of interesting facts about the different types of 'port" and I found the information about the wood for the barrels, coming from an area of France very interesting and they get sent to several other countries after making port wine Including Scotland and Belgium, where they end up in micro breweries making... We took a tour of the port cellar. The tour person explained how port was made, the locations of their vinyards up stream, and how they used to get the juice to porto on small boats, some are tied up in the river outside the port cellar. Then we tasted a rubey and white port, both were great.

As we were in Porto we had to visit one of the port houses, and the Calem Port house is the first one you come to off the bridge. It is 6€ for a tour of the cellar and two samples of Port after. The tour while brief and a bit rushed was very informative and really helped my understanding... More

Walked through this area one afternoon in late June. Lots of Port warehouses including Sandeman along the river Duoro. I crossed the Dom Luis Bridge built by a protege of Gustav Eiffel (yes, he of the Tower) and walked into this area. Wine tastings and port tastings are great if you know your wines and ports. I did not and... More

The tour and Port tasting was part of the Porto sightseeing package and definitely worth the time. The tour guide was very friendly and provided a lot of information about the various types of port and the production process. At the end of the tour you get to sample a white port and the popular ruby port. Additional tasting of... More

The tour touched on the production and safekeeping of port wines, as well as their distinctions; the tour guide was sweet but his delivery was monotonous. The tastings were in a pleasant, beautiful room but it was crowded (not surprising as this is one of the most famous cellars). Compared to other tours and tastings we had (Ramos Pinto, for... More
