For a quick visit without much information, you can find what you need there. Our guide spoke extremely quickly and very quietly, it was difficult to understand him. Little information and a visit limited to a space dedicated to tourists but without historical value. No visit to the active production space and a tasting without much passion.

For an authentic experience in the vineyards, visit the famous Croft property in Pinhão: Quinta da Roêda.
The Visit Center is located in the old stables, which have been carefully restored following the traditional style of the Douro. This space offers a cozy and spacious atmosphere, perfect for tasting the renowned wines of Port of Croft and explore the store that offers regional products, such as extra virgin olive oil, produced at the Quinta itself.
During an educational visit and a tasting, you can get to know the vineyards and, at the time of the vineyard, participate in the old tradition of grape pissing in the vineyards (subject to availability).

The best part was the vineyard tour. Old vines, olive trees, and vista views were the highlight of the experience. Our guide, who was obviously knowledgeable, ran down the port making process, but droned in a monotone that lost my interest. The tasting of Croft ports was a bit disappointing. The white port was a sugar bomb without character. It was suggested the best way to taste it was with tonic as a cocktail. However if you wanted to try that, you had to purchase a can for 4 euros. A lost opportunity for Croft to make their product shine.
The ruby was better but not exceptional. We had tasted several ports during our Douro trip. While ok, we had much better than these Croft offerings.
Worth it for the views, but you should be able to find better port.

We had a tour of the vineyards and then a tasting of the port. The vineyard was beautiful. It was a scorchingly hot day so quite honestly, I couldn't wait to get to the tasting portion of the tour which was inside. Once the tour was over we had to wait outside for two other groups to vacate the tasting area. One of the tour escorts from our cruise boat helped clear the tables and straighten things up. However, the tasting felt rushed and when I tried to make a purchase in the shop, I had to hunt down a staff member to take my money.

We arrived at the Quinta de Roeda and we were very well received by Marcio, at first we were surprised because there were too many people, but Marcio, our guide, made us forget that. He spoke French very well and during his explanation he showed us his passion for the Valley. During all the time we spent with him it was an incredible discovery, his way of speaking and expressing himself was different from other guides in other areas. A visit not to be missed since it is a completely different experience. At the end we tasted 3 glasses of Port (white, Ruby, tawny). Thank you very much Marcio, I will not forget you. I recommend without a doubt.

We had booked the premium picnic basket and tour, and both were wonderful. When we arrived, they gave us a glass of port while they prepared our picnic basket (with bottle of wine), then we headed up into the vineyards to a picnic table. Unfortunately, it was very windy that day, so we abandoned the picnic table and came back to a more sheltered table on the terrace. Beautiful views. Picnic was terrific - way too much food - appetizers (meats and cheeses, cod cakes and more), salads, quiches, sandwiches, assortment of desserts. Then we enjoyed a tour with Bernardo, who was terrific.

We visited Quinta da Roeda as part of a small-group Douro Valley wine tour. The winery is located in a wonderfully picturesque setting. We first received an interesting and entertaining tour of the winery and a detailed explanation of the process for making port and the different types of port wine from an engaging guide (Miguel?). We then sampled generous portions of 3 excellent ports - a rosé, a ruby, and a tawny. Highly recommend.

Came as a second winery stop on a Duoro valley wine tour. Beautiful vineyard, perhaps one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Feels sort of like a “Disney-fied” place, it looks so perfect. Our tour guide was talking pretty quickly and made sure to answer any questions before taking us on the tasting. We got to try 3 port wines: a white, ruby, and tawny port. The tawny was my favorite. They do ship to the US and it’s 132€.

We decided to explore from Vintage House (See my review of this extraordinary oasis) so we meandered along the path at the side of the Douro River, in this peaceful village of Pinhão.
As we walked, we came upon a sign for Croft Cellars (Fladgate Partnership) and decided to follow the road without knowing were it might lead us. Eventually, after strolling next to vineyards pruned and resting for Winter, we arrived at the Tasting Room and greeted by three very welcoming and friendly staff members.
As we talked, it became very clear that these men possessed a level of knowledge that seemed beyond knowing a script. Their response to our specific questions were in detail and enhanced our enjoyment of the two flights of Port. The offerings were, in part, the original Pink Port developed by Croft, a LBV, and I believe, a Reserve Tawny Port, a 10 Year Tawny Port and a 20 Year Tawny Port were the winners for the day.
This was a relaxing and informative visit to one of the oldest Port producers and absolutely worthwhile to visit and enjoy this time in Pinhão.

Disappointing experience; tasting 3 glasses of their so-called best portwines but no explanation what so ever and nothing special at all except the price. “Service” did not deserve the name, staff did not care at all. Asking for a glass of water was more like a chloride experience. Too bad…..
