This was a great stop on my Norfolk sight seeing excursion. This statue helps highlight for me the struggle my father must have felt as he left my mother and I to head off to sea. This trip has helped strengthen the love, honor and respect I have for my dad. The memorial plaques were informative and the small green... More

The Lone Sailor stands across the water from the USS Wisconsin Battleship and is situated for some excellent photos! Tribute plaques are also present and informative.

This is a beautiful tribute to the American sailor. Please stop by and take a picture of a perfect tribute.

I admired this statue as it reminds one of the sacrifices that young sailors commit to when going to sea. It is haunting and beautiful at the same time.

It is a nice statue located right next door to the battleship Wisconsin. You can get some nice pictures with it.

A touching Statue to those sailors to whom we owe so much. Well done and we were able to take photos to get some family momentos. Not some thing to make a special trip to see but something to see if in the area.

Emotional to see his statue. If in the area visiting the nautical museum or USS Wisconsin stop by to see. Not really worthy of a trip to only see statue.

The Lone Sailor Stature symbolizes the enlisted "White Hat Sailor". He spends long hours away from his family and the close friends he grew up with. I personally know how this statue illustrates the look and feel of a sailor in a "pea coat" looking at an unknown future but ready to take it on, what ever happens. Our Naval... More

This was unexpected find and loved all the history that surrounded it. We started out at the Pagoda Gardens, saw the USS Wisconsin and decided to walk over. Definitely watch young children closely though here as they are many places one could fall into the surrounding water. Really enjoyed the historical plaques and tributes.

Nice statue near USS Wisconsin. Touching. But you might walk by it and never even know it. Has no place on the list of attractions for Norfolk. Don't plan trip around this one.

Thank tokross
