I go to the gardens several times a month just to walk around and take in nature. During every month there is something in bloom. It is a peaceful place and also has a section just for children.

This is the only botanical garden in the US with a tram and boat tour. It was built in 1938 and is on 175 acres of beautiful park to tour. All times of year something is in bloom. April sounds best with the azaleas blooming.

Something for everyone. Fountains for kids to play in, dogs were welcome, gorgeous flowers and butterflies everywhere, playground, trolley if you didn't want to walk, even food. We just planned to go for the day but ended up getting a family membership.
