This tour was a phenomenal way to experience some local cuisine & learn about Norfolk, VA history along the way. Although my boyfriend and I are Tidewater locals, there was not a second of boredom as we walked through historic Norfolk with our guide, John, and learned about the deep history of the city. The walk was pleasant, the food was delicious, and seeing bits of Norfolk that we miss in our daily commute was delightful. We even got to see a bit of the sunset behind the U.S.S. Wisconsin before our last stop.

Great tour guide, John, whose passion for history and ease of conversation made our tour most enjoyable. You meet on Granby, but really you end up in West Freemason, the oldest and loveliest part of Norfolk. Three restaurants with great atmospheres, wonderful staff (all who greet John with a knowing smile and/or hug), and delicious food. Moderate portions, but essentially a four course meal by the time you've finished (soup, appetizer, entree, dessert); I felt full by the end of the night. Drinks will cost extra at some restaurants. Maybe a total of one mile in walking. John didn't eat with us, but he kept relaying stories, so it never felt awkward. You even walk away with a coupon to return to one of the establishments. A great evening all around. Thanks, John!

Very easy and a very friendly staff when making our reservation. This group was very accommodating when we originally registered and had to reschedule. Best part of the tour was our guide, John Ickes. It turned out that we were the only couple for this tour and he commuted from VA Beach just to assure we had a great time. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided us with many interesting facts about Norfolk and its history. The three restaurants we visited were happy to see him and provided us with excellent food as well as service. Only problem was, John was not served. It was most uncomfortable to eat in front of him! It was a great experience, one we would highly recommend!

We toured with John on Saturday, Feb. 3. My wife’s friends were visiting for the weekend, we thought it would be a great event for the 4 of us.

First, John was fantastic. Funny, knowledgeable, and engaging. He was a true pleasure to be with.

The food was amazing. She-crab soup, and a beer pairing. Moroccan Bastilla. Finally, mushroom risotto and bread pudding. 3 great restaurant choices. We highly recommend!

We had a wonderful evening with John. The three restaurant stops were fantastic. The she crab soup was delicious, the authentic Moroccan dish was unique and very tasty. The final stop had two courses including an excellent bread pudding dessert. We were seated immediately and had no waiting. The evening included and a walk thru a part of Norfolk I would not have seen otherwise. The walk is short and very pleasant. The history and building architectural information was very interesting. The three hours flew by and not a dull moment. John could not have been a better host/guide. I highly recommend the tour for visitors and locals alike.

This was a great tour. We expected to stay on Granby street, but were introduced to a few fantastic restaurants on the side streets. John was so personable and had some great stories to share. Only stopped at 3 places, but the portions were generous and no one left hungry. Would absolutely recommend.

John was a great tour guide! My husband & I really enjoyed our food tour around downtown Norfolk. The stops we made were places we've never even heard of (great research on restaurants), had a great menu (very diverse), & places that had a lot of history behind them (super interesting)!! John knew all his facts about each place and even places along the way. It was like a history class with amazing foods along the way.

We were looking for something to do in the off-season and found coastal food tours of Virginia Beach. We really wanted to try fresh seafood dishes while on the beach and we weren't disappointed. We stopped at three different restaurants and at each the manager/chef would stop by the table to welcome us and introduce their cuisine creations. Sarah, or guide, was very friendly and informative the whole tour telling us the history of the different areas as well as good insight on activities to try for the rest of our vacation. Highly recommend the tour and would try another one on a return trip to the area.

I'd never been on a food tour before but wanted something different and new for husband for Father's Day - so I thought, why not? I chose Virginia Beach as we'd never been there. We decided to go in the fall, when the weather would be cooler and the beach area not as crowded. We got our date of 10/13 and it was a beautiful fall day! We took photos along the beach before our tour began. Then we met with our guide, Sarah, and 2 other couples on The Boardwalk. Sarah was knowledgable of the area's history and also of the restaurants where we ate. We went to 3 restaurants where we got signature drinks and dishes. The food at all 3 was fresh, unique and amazing. If you are a "foodie", or want a great experience, sign up for a food tour. We can't wait to do another!
