It is very nice that the Virginia Symphony travels. In this case, they traveled to a church only minutes from my house to perform Handel's Messiah. I try to go to a Messiah performance whenever I can so it was a treat and convenient. The...More

We recently traveled to Norfolk specifically to hear Carmina Burana and we were not disappointed. It was our first visit to Chrysler Hall in downtown Norfolk- a beautiful, well-designed concert hall. There are ample ladies rooms and concession stands on the different levels. We parked...More

Play performance is subpar. The performance is not as good as the Virginia Musical Theater performances. The worst thing about this theatre is that the Norfolk Police do not understand how to keep traffic flowing. This causes many to be late.

stumbled into their concert in downtown Norfolk, (3/24) was very impressed, excellent musicians and a very entertaining evening of "folk" music and history, a bit heavy/overdone with the full of himself maestro, but, overall a very enjoyable evening, in the former 2200 seat movie palace,...More

Soo often symphony orchestras stick to the traditional performances celebrating the works of the masters. Everynow and then, they step out of their traditional roles and venture in to areas that they rarely perform. such was the case as the Virginia Symphony perfomed a Broadway...More

I recently attended one of several performances by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. This time, featuring all Russian composers with the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto as the finale. For a regional orchestra, I would rank the Virginia Symphony among the "big five". The only distinction, in my...More

In December we attended the holiday show of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Choir and Raleigh Bell Ringers at the Sandler Center of the Performing Arts in Virginia Beach. It was a terrific show. The artists and directors were exceptional and we enjoyed it very much.

We bought tickets online and no one told us that this "symphony" moves around with their concerts. We simply missed it, because we didn't know the right address, because it was impossible to find it.
