Not sure what is here to attract people - the beach is tiny, rocky/stony and ruined by huge lumps of concrete put in to control erosion (I'm guessing that's the reason, as they are an eyesore).

Ponta do Sol is a sleepy town with a small beach. There are several restaurants and cafés on the promenade.I recommend a short walk through the tunnel to a sightseeing spot for a stunning view of the coast
We stayed nearby and went down to the beach almost every day. It's a really nice place, not crowded at all and you can enjoy yourself without many tourists around (at least in November). There's also a cafe with a terrace right on the beach...More
We were especially unlucky because the week we stayed in Ponta da Sol (June 2018) they were reconstructing the beach after a winter storm - so it was taken up by diggers and trucks.

We stayed at the hotel Estalagem do Ponta do Sol, right above this nice little village. There are cafes, small shops and various restaurants to visit but above all there's the sea side with rocky beach. Don't miss the sunset!
Not much to say on this one except though lots of people swam, got a tan etc I personally didn't like it. The hotel we were in was opposite the beach and on an average day 15/25 people were there little cramped.
