SURF, SUP, MOUNTAIN - Madeira -AroundFreedom is a concept which we want to transmit to our guests; the background being the paradisiacal island of Madeira:Aroundfreedom is a company specialized in sea and mountain activities. The green/blue concept is present in all our activities. Our aim is to ensure that all moments are intensely lived by our guests, and that they feel the freedom that our activities and unique experiences are able to grant them.Exploiting the natural resources that the Island of Madeira has to offer you, enjoying the sea with its blue greenish, pleasant mild waters, through the SUP tours on the seashore, or learning how to surf on its wonderful volcanic sand beaches on the northeastern part of the island, or into the mountains dazzled by the landscapes, breathing the pure fresh air, discovering the fresh water springs, the waterfalls cutting into the deep canyons most of the times ending in exuberant lagoons of crystalline waters with stunning blues and greens and a unique world renowned forest, the āLaurissilva of the Island of Madeiraā. I did stand up paddling for the first time while in Madeira and I liked it so much that I wanted to do it again. When searching online, out of the 3 available tour agents Roberto was the one who returned my call & happened to have a free slot for the next day.
Roberto arrived on time at my hotel to pick me & we headed to our destination which was less than 10 minutes drive. He had 2 more students that day, also first timers. He demonstrated the technics & safety rules thoroughly before going in the water. Once in the water he kept a close eye on us making sure we were doing the right thing giving us tips and pointing mistakes etcā¦all the while taking stunning pictures of us. He also had a very good knowledge of the area which he shared with us; his English is perfect so there was no issue with communication. By the end we were all much more confident and comfortable paddling away in the beautiful Atlantic Ocean with amazing views.
At the end of our lesson Roberto went above and beyond the call of duty by teaching me how to dive in the water (which I have never managed to) and on the drive back to the hotel he did a detour to show me the Cristo Rei (the Christ Statute).
If ever you find yourself in Madeira and want to do stand-up paddling, Roberto is definitely the person to go to. I would highly recommend him. Thank you very much Roberto for making my experience in Madeira that much better.

I took 5 surf lesssons and all of them were great. Madeira itself is wonderful place but worh Roberto as a surf guide its hospitality was taken to the next level. Hi was very professional but with friendly approach. He explains everything very clearly so you can advance quite fast. He picks you up and drops at ur hotel after the lesson. I can only recommend!! š¤š¤š¤š¤š¤

Went on two guided levada walks with Roberto from AroundFreedom and thoroughly enjoyed both. Both very different walks; the first through the forest towards the north and the other going through the valley and farmland, which was great as get to see different aspects of this lovely island.
Small personal groups - only the two of us on one and the second four so got to hear everything that was being said.
Roberto gives you lots of information about the area and the levada walks that you would otherwise miss.
Madeira is a truly beautiful island and to enjoy some beautiful scenery away from the crowds I would recommend that you book a walk with Roberto.

I would definitely recommend this activity for all travellers to Madeira who want to see a bit more of this amazing island than the regular tourist trails. I went on a small group grade 3 levada walk in the centre of the island in February 2014 with AroundFreedom tours. Our guide Roberto made the hike so special with his exceptional knowledge and passion for the natural flora and environment we encountered during the walk. We followed a levada through a fairy-like cloud forest to the high plateau and up to its source then hiked down the valley seeing hidden waterfalls, beautiful views and amazingly not many other walkers. I have been on holiday to Madeira a number of times before but this was without doubt the best and most memorable walk I have been on. If I visit again I would love to go on another levada trail with Roberto. Excellent!

Not only is Roberto a great instructor of physical activities but he also does great Island tours.
He took a group of us on a guided tour of the island, showing us the beautiful natural elements of the island including thick forests and views from the plateau down to a beautiful mountain restaurant that was full of families enjoying traditional "estepada". After lunch we enjoyed another tradition - a glass of "poncha" at a small village bar away from the tourist traps. Once replenished, we visited some delightful bays and beaches on the sunnier west coast, strolled along the promenade at Jardin do Mar and drove up to the Cabo GirĆ£o viewing point. We finished a brilliant day by enjoying wonderful views at the most south eastern point of the island above Canical. Finally, on our return to Garajau - Roberto thoughtfully dropped us in the typical Madeiran town of Canico to enjoy the late summer evening festival.
Roberto's knowledge of the island, enthusiasm and sense of fun, made it a day to remember for my friends and I - all in superb comfort too, so we could leave the walking boots at home.

Roberto took just me and my partner on a paddle through the nature reserve in Garajua. Once we got the hang of paddling off we went. we explored up and down the coast and roberto stopped to point out fish and birds as well as describing the history and the geology of the area. All in all a great fun way to see a chunk of unspoilt coastline.

Absolutely loved the experience! We had the lesson at sunrise! An amazing team who made us feel comfortable and took their time to teach us the moves properly. We would highly recommend them if you are out in Madeira.

Great SUP experience with Daniel. He was very good teacher and guide, shared a lot of useful tips at the beginning of our tour and was very supportive during the whole time we spent on the ocean. I really enjoyed it and will be back for sure to practice SUPing on the ocean š
