About
Enjoyable mountain bike tours, that starts on the top of the mountain and ends by sea level. A vivid trail ride that may vary between challenging up hills and adrenaline full down hills. With an experienced guide leading the way, we cycle along forest tracks and water filled Levadas. A great opportunity to contemplate Madeira’s rural landscapes.

We used them twice during our week's stay the first time was for a tour around the island for eight people and I have to say that Sittika went the extra mile not only finding a guide and minibus on a bank holiday after ringing practically every one of her contacts. We were not disappointed as our guide, Manny, was delightful (Sittika and Manny had never worked together before and the whole thing relied on a third party's recommendation) so congratulations to Sittika. Our second trip was just for the two of us and went to the 25 fountain levado walk equally enjoyable.

We went on the kings Levada walk with Alvaro our guide ,The walk was an easy one a bit slippery here and there but Alvaro takes care to tell you where and how to proceed at all times ,he was so informative with a fab sense of humour .So we booked another walk with him straight away as we enjoyed it so much .Just be aware you do need boots or good walking shoes when doing these guided walks we saw someone in flip flops attempting the walk he didn’t finish it !! He wasn’t with our group though .

Lokoloko and their excellent guides took us Mountain biking, canyoning (our first time) and walking and exploring the north east of the island. Jimmy, Hidde and Vitor were excellent and knowledgeable guides, the activities were the highlight of our week and they accommodated the kids 9-12yrs really well. Thanks Lokoloko

We did the Dune Buggy Dust and Mud Tour and it was incredible. Nelson our guide was very down to earth and absolutely hilarious. We spent the whole day laughing it was such a great experience from the dirt roads and views to the fruit from his fathers farm. He is a wealth of knowledge and had so many interesting facts and history to share with us. We had been to many parts of Madeira by this point but he showed us a jawdropping view that we would have otherwise missed. We had so much fun, hell of a guy and a memorable experience for sure.

We had a great time mountain biking, canyoning and kayaking+snorkeling. All the guides were really friendly and very knowledgeable about the island. Recommended for anyone who wants to see the nature of island while seeking a bit of adrenaline

It was a perfect trip from the beginning till the end! Vítor and Hugo are great guides and we felt very safe at every second of our adventure. They gave us a proper security briefing before the trip and explained every obstacle very well. The trail had everything: climbing, jumps, slides, swimming (a little bit). And the views were fantastic!

I really loved the footage we got at the end of the day, so you have a lot of memories to take home and show around.

We're returning in a few days to go on another tour and we're definitely looking forward to it! If you have the chance: definitely book a canyoning tour with Vítor and Hugo, you won't regret it!

I did a canyoning tour in the ribeiro frio with Han, the owner. The tour lasted 3 hours and went deep down into the canyons of Madeiras highlands. I was absolutely in awe of the lush nature and felt like in a "hobbit" movie. Han took care of me and my worries of virtigo and I quickly learned how to work the rope. We jumped down some steep cliffs and abseiled three other. It was the first time I did this and as I said, I suffer from virtigo, but this tour is smooth and easy for every level. Ask for Han as he is such an entertaining tour guide with decades of experience. Highly recommded!

Whilst on holiday in Madeira I used LokoLoko to rent a road bike to do a bit of cycling whilst on holiday. The bike was 35 euros per day and it was dropped of to my hotel along with a lock. It was a good quality bike (Trek Alpha 1.5) and I had no problems with it at all. Their communication and attention to detail was excellent.

I would definitely recommend them if your looking to hire a bike whilst over there. Their website is below.

We did canyoning, mountain biking, snorkelling, kayaking, two jeep tours and paddle boarding with Lokoloko. We were picked up on time for every activity, given the necessary instruction and equipment, and really enjoyed all of them. We went as a family with a 15 & 18 year old and all of us had a great time. Lokoloko supplied photos of the canyoning and mountain biking - essential for any teenagers social media - and really seemed to go the extra mile to ensure that we were all having fun. Every guide had not only excellent knowledge but a real enthusiasm for their activity and the island. Although not cheap, as Madeira isn't cheap, I felt we did get good value for money. All of the guides made you feel welcome and like friends rather than paying clients which added enormously to our enjoyment. I would go back to Madeira just to have the pleasure of undertaking activities with this group of individuals. Also, when Lokoloko were unable to accommodate our desires for extra activities, Catarina sorted it all out for us with other providers who were also very good. Very happy that we used Lokoloko and got to know Bernardo, Andre, Luke, Hugo and Sergio a little bit.

To be fair on the day we chose the beginners mountain bike tour it was pouring with rain so the route was changed. I was nervous as I am no expert on a bike (although I can ride a road bike) and the guide was very good at explaining how to ride the moutain bike. I didn't think of myself as that unfit but clearly the ride we were on was for someone who was very fit as 5km of uphill in the pouring rain certainly took its toll and was not a fun experience. I had to get off the bike at certain points and walk. This really is for people who are used to riding bikes regularly and have some experience of mountain biking. When we stopped at the first cafe there was the option to go home I said yes please! There is no way I could have dealt with another 3 hours in the saddle in pouring rain and wind. It was not my idea of fun. The tours are really for experienced people and I imagine you would have a great time. It wasn't as advertised and now €120 euros lighter it was a very expensive mistake and we will not be booking again.

Dear Kelley, I am sorry to hear that your experience with us was not what you expected it to be. The weather on this day was indeed definitely not the best, that is also why we discussed before getting on the bike if you really wanted to go. After deciding to go for it, we indeed started with a bit of uphill in order to get warm. When it was still raining at the first stop the two of you decided to stop, while the others continued. Driving you back to the hotel we offered that you could come another day for free for another bike tour with better weather, or that you could, as a compensation, join another activity with us, like a boat tour, in case you didn't wanted to go biking again. You decided to give it some thought and to let us know what you wanted. But after dropping you of at your hotel, we didn't hear from you anymore. For us it is a pity to hear now that you consider it to be an expensive mistake, because it shouldn't haven been. Anyway we hope that you have enjoyed the rest of you stay on Madeira and please consider our offer still standing for a next time time when you'll be visiting our beautiful island. Best regards, Roos Kuipers
