Marinha Grande born from the glass factory and that story (and more) you can find the museum, because in the rest of the city, the artist side of it is almost dead.

The glass industry has been in the town of Marinha Grande for centuries and the museum very nicely shows the lovely glasswork through the ages. In addition there are artisans demonstrating glass making which is great to watch together with some good art exhibitions.
It was a really nice afternoon out and the entry fee very cheap.
Overall excellent.

I went the last weekend with my to little kids. We all love it. Nice people, well organized. Cheap price to enter (kids for free). And they had the oportunity so see artesans working live the glass. We all recomend it!

I love everything glass, so we decided to visit the centre of the Portuguese Glass Industry in Marina Grande. The Museum was all laid out very nice in the building that the owner of the glass factory used to live in. Beautiful examples of glass were in showcases with old photos of some of the work being done and a brief description of what was going on, both in Portuguese and in English, which was a bonus. That was all very nice but it lacked any clarity in how the glass was made, with what materials and the progression to where it is today. It would have been nice to have a video showing the furnaces and blowing of the old days and maybe some of the ingredients showing what goes in the manufacture. The admission fee was really reasonable and the staff helpful.
