When you get to this unusual outlet in Solomeo you will be surprised, because it feels nothing like an outlet, and very much like a high end boutique, which is what it essentially is. This is top quality cashmere made by skilled artisans in ideal working conditions. No underpaid third world slave or child labour here. Just ask to visit the staff toilets and you will see - most 5-star hotels are less well appointed. If you read the founder's philosophy you will understand why the prices are so high. They are still a lot less than you pay for them in the various capitals of the world - about 30% less on average on current collection, more when they are selling off last season's. The village is exquisite, the building the shop is in is delightful, the staff helpful and not pushy. It is a real delight. Worth saving up for!

Just got back from the Brunello Cucinelli outlet and couldn't wait to write this review. We were staying in San Felice and took the hour plus drive to the beautiful town of Solomeo. It was worth every minute.
This outlet is set in a exquisite setting. There are some very good deals. 30% off most merchandise and up to almost 50% off of the back room. No seconds here just beautifully classic Cucinelli. The girl working with us couldn't be more accommodating with sizes and helping us put together outfits. I had lost a belt from an old sweater and she went and got me another at no charge!
When visiting Italy I would definitely put this shopping experience on your list.

Went for 2 hour drive from Rome to the outlet store. The town or Solomeo was beautifully resorted. IF your here to shop then it's perfect. Very friendly staff and helpful. My husband is a huge fan and after we bought a small fortune of men's and women's cloths and they Gaylord them on site we were lucky to be invited to a great lunch at 1pm with all the employees at the cantina. It was amazing. Great friendly people and impressed how his employees love to work here. Wow

Don't go there thinking you are going to be assailed by a row of bargain seconds. Since I last went there 8 years ago, the place has the obligatory 2 humourless women on reception, and inside it is just like an upmarket shop, albeit with typical Italian quality and style. If you want to reinvent your Mistress or Wife, then by all means go, but it most certainly isn't a Factory Outlet !!!!

I'm a bit of a Cucinelli fan - not that I can afford these clothes, but like I am a Cezanne fan. I find Brunello's story/philosophy really interesting and we thought we would visit his village and store in Solomeo while in the area. It is a lovely town indeed, as is the "source" store. But don't expect to be welcomed in the store unless you are carrying a Gucci handbag. I even dressed up to go - but narry a buongiorno or even eye contact. This is not outside normal in upper end retail stores in my own country or New York, but is in stark contrast to the experience I had in Siena where I visited two high end clothing stores (Dolci Trame and Mag) and found them completely welcoming (sans the gucci handbag) - so kuddos to them, and well, if you don't mind being sneered at by a young retail attendants, go ahead to visit the Cucinelli store in Solomeo.

Love Cucinelli's cashmere range clothing, so was looking forward to our visit to the town and store and was prepared to spend well. How they lost out!
Because after entering the store, on both the women and men's department, confirmation of our existence and/ or a word of welcome was non existent.
So in short, if you like the brand and don't care about poor service, do visit this store. If however like me you do care for the extra service you expect with high end brands, go and visit any Ermenegildo Segna store and spend there. I know I will.

I had wanted to visit Solemeo for quite some time, and the visit did not disappoint. Our personal guide, Louisa, was fantastic and gave us an in depth history of Brunello and the art of his company. We toured the entire grounds, followed by one of the best lunches we had in Italy with the employees and factory workers. Afterwards, we shopped in the boutique where we purchased items at a 30% discount. Everyone was friendly and we even returned several weeks later to shop again. Love BC.

We tried to get to Solomeo in a recent trip, but failing any response to inquiry, visited the store in Venice. Wow! and the beautiful "sweater" I purchased is the talk everywhere I wear it. Giacomo and Igor were totally handsome and gracious of manner. We came back several times to the shop to chat, and were most thankful for the assistance personally taking me to the VAT tax refund office. Want to write a story comparing the precepts of Mr. Cucinelli with our own famed architect Don Ruggels for a feature news article and would appreciate access assistance. For me a Master Photographer, I love the catalogues. Sweet work.

We passed by different cities. I know Perugia, in the past I studied a month at the University per gli Stranieri. It has beautiful buildings, but it is becoming a Kermisse with all those franchise stuff like McDonalds, it is tourist-like.
Park your car outside the village , there is a large parking lot outside a factory. Otherwise behave as the Italians and other tourists,: park yr car in the village, in front of the church, silly they are.
Solomeo has something special. It is just characteristic like Collepino, Corciano or Bettona but Cucinelli, an Italian Imprenditore invested in a beautiful village to become something dynamic with start ups. People and also young people work and live over there and make a living. They don't live from the Rent but are creating things in the Umbrian tradition.
By the way Cucinelli produces cashmere clothing, some people make a mistake thinking Solomeo is a big outlet. Stupid they are.

I always wanted to visit solomeo so took the opportunity when I was visiting perugia. I took a taxi from perugia train station and it cost €25. The return trip was also the same price and both drivers accept creidt card which is convenient. The solomeo hamlet is beautiful with a pot of buildings built on the hill offering beautiful scenic views of the surrounding countryside. The store is big with an upper floor dedicated to menswear. The store stocks the latest collection so it's not an outlet but the prices are 30% less than high street shops.
The SAs were helpful and one arranged to call a taxi for me to get back to Perugia. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
