A stunning building with a surprisingly good collection of art. Easy to walk to from the center, which we enjoyed visiting on a quiet Sunday. I'd suggest combining a stop here with the museum in Sansapulcro, just a short drive away.

We thoroughly enjoyed spending a few hours here. The exterior has some amazing work designed by Vasari. Would love to see the garden as it was in the day. The frescoes in many of the large rooms are amazing, with many battle scenes (the palace owners were quite militaristic). Wonderful ceiling paintings of the zodiac and, interestingly, women dominating strong men. Many many good to great paintings. Few visitors, at least when we were there.

After reading some of the other reviews …..we did miss out. We just didn't realize that you could go inside this building, unless it was just closed for the day. The outside was amazing to look at , so sorry we missed the inside.

This is true of the entire town, too often ignored. I hesitate to call this museum the second best in Umbria, after Perugia, as other reviews do, because fortunately there are several excellent collections in the region, but certainly it's in the top five and deserves to be visited.

The entrance is unassuming. I mean really unassuming, so much so that we weren't sure we were in the right place. But I had the address in my Google maps and here we were. So in we went with a touch of hesitation but pleasingly found ourselves in the right place.

The building and gardens are spectacular and the murals are excellent. I particularly liked the murals near the entrance depicting the power of woman over men as some of the great minds of the time succumbed to the love of a woman, depicted by the woman riding the man like a horse.

We wandered happily around for an hour. Highly recommended.

Located just inside Citta di Castello city walls on south side with convenient car park just outside the wall . The entrance to the Pinacoteca is quite small and not in any way imposing as you might expect for such a gallery - in fact could be easily missed on a narrow side street to this second most important important Museum and Art Gallery in Umbria. The displays are on 3 floors - ground floor and first floor being mostly Renaissance masterpieces of Jesus, Mary , Saints etc well laid out in spacious rooms some of which are also well furnished and beautifully decorated with frescoes like the massive Grand Salon on the first floor where there are many frescoes of historical pictures of famous battles, events and so on. There is also a lower floor which is worth visiting especially for the more modern works including some excellent bronze life size sculptures. Outside there is a large level garden neatly laid out with box hedge designs. The re is a small shop selling good souvenirs at moderate prices . Well worth a visit.. Very few people visiting so no rush to get around

We have been here many times and seen a whole range of exhibitions as well as the permanent collection of course. They have shown Andy Warhol, Joseph Albers and took part in the major Signorelli show. A wonderful mixture of ancient and modern.

Interesting art collection housed in a well cared for museum with stunning external scraffito by Vasari and delightful gardens. Very helpful and well informed staff. We were very fortunate to have a guided tour of the current ceramics exhibition - Terrae - La Ceramica Nell'informale e Nella Ricerca Contemporanea - conducted by the curator Lorenzo Fiorucci. It was absolutely fascinating. If you are in Citta di Castello before 1st November 2015 - I really recommend you visit the beautiful Pinacoteca Comunale and see this exceptional exhibition.
