Vignamaggio reached its maximum glory around the middle of the XVII century...

Vignamaggio reached its maximum glory around the middle of the XVII century and belonged to the Gherardini family until the 1886. After being owned by the family of Gherardini it was purchased in 1925 by Countess Elena Sanminiatelli; her family restored the Italian gardens and the Villa. Since 1998 the new owners have started the restructuring of the vineyards and cellars, further improving the quality levels of the farm products.

Gorgeous and reasonably priced

Five star rooms and grounds for much less than five star prices. Amazing and beautiful. Just outside Florence on the way back or to Tuscany.

Vignamaggio is about an hour drive from Florence. We traveled from Pisa to Florence in the morning and picked up our rental car in Florence. Avis, Enterprise and many others are about 19 min walking distance from Firenze SMN. It's very quiet and tranquil at the Villa, certainly no tourist crush and we loved it like that. We were the... A breathe taking journey as you wind up the Tuscan hills to Vignamaggio. You begin your tour at the restaurant and wind through the estate. We added the tasting on to our tour and was a bit disappointed. You start with a huge plate our mixed salami and cheese; but you only get to taste two wines a Chianti Classico... More

On the recommendation of an Aussie work colleague now engaged to an Italian lad, we dropped into Vignamaggio early afternoon on a Sunday for a sticky-beak and light lunch. My suckling veal was excellent but my partner's octopus, while well cooked and plentiful, had a surprising 'tuna' taste, something we'd not experienced before with octopus. Bread, a complementary dish of... More

What a great setting. We were traveling in a group of 20 and had a wonderful time at the wine tasting they set up for us. This was followed by a delicious 5 course dinner and another wine tasting. The hostess was delightful and gave us a tour of the wine making operation. All staff were warm and welcoming. It... More

If you are looking for a first class scenic vineyard villa in Tuscany this is it! Our room was gorgeous and comfortable and the staff were helpful and patient with our questions about the area. The grounds are expertly maintained and there is a gorgeous infinity pool and spa area. We attended the evening tour and wine tasting paired with... More

Villa Vignamaggio is a beautiful villa and Winery. We did not stay there so I can't report to you about the rooms. Tom and I think that this is one of the better place to visit if you would like to do a wine tour and tasting. The tour was both interesting and informative. This is where Mona Lisa reportedly... This was our second stop on our honeymoon. We stayed in the suite that is right in front of the pool. The room was amazing- it had 2 floors- the bedroom upstairs. If you are looking for the ultimate relaxation, come to Villa Vignamaggio. Every where you look, looks like a postcard. We slept with the windows every night and... More

We did the wine tour and tasting and had a wonderful experience! The grounds are pretty and full of history, and the tour guide was very informative and we learned a lot about wine and the villa. This was our favorite wine tour we did in Tuscany. We also did the tasting after the tour and felt that it was... More

This is at the top end of the scale for venues in Tuscany - the winery is steeped in history which dates back to the original classification of Chianti as a wine region of its own.
