It was by pure chance we visited the museum, only because we decided to stay in Calci in order to not stay overnight in Pisa. We noticed the grand front to the monestry at the top of the hill only 1000 meters from our lovely b&b. We were the only visitors and enjoyed a personal tour by a guide who... More

Tour through the monastery only in guided groups, we were lucky to understand sufficient Italian (no English or German was offered when we were there). Tours start at :30, ours took 1,5 h - a little too long for us who could not follow all questions and answers). Impressive place, our group of ~10 people was completely alone on the... More

We visited here by bus to Calci from Pisa, then a 15 minute pleasant country walk to the site which is stunning. The museum is set in a monastic complex and the old Carthusian monastery can also be visited, though we just visited the museum. It is laid out in a very different way to most British museums, lots of space and the... More

We visited here with young children and older grandparents. Used to b a monastery, very interesting facade now home to a small aquarium and dinosaur exhibition. Personally found the aquarium section a little disappointing, I've seen more Koi carp at my local garden centre. But overall there is Lots to see. Lots of archeological items too. We could certainly have... More

That was simply amazing and the first thing that I must write is that is a place suitable for people with mobility issues: ramps, elevators and bathrooms are in place. Very good Sunday afternoon with my family (kid is 6yo) into this stunning and fairy place, where we spent 2 hours and a half. The tour is organized per area... More

This is an amazing former monastery which is definitely worth visiting. We took the bus from Pisa. No English translations, but fascinating to see anyway. Hardly anyone there. Visits hourly at half past the hour.

This place is well worth the visit, our guide Massimo Lenzi was so informative - brought the whole place alive for us, the paintings and fresco's were in amazing condition, the flooring incredible. if you are in the area go in, we were taken there by Massimo who owns a B and B in Vicopisano - Villa Lenzi - they... Entry to the Certosa di Pisa is by guided tour only. The price is five euro. On the day we visited we waited fifteen minutes for our guided tour. The tour included the main church. Four of the monks private chapels, gardens, and a monk's room. We also saw the Grand Duke of Tuscany's private suite as well as the... More

It was a very special place in Certosa Di Pisa. Firstly the surrounding was marvelous, second of all it located next to a monastery. It was a contradicting combination, God and The Evolution. Well done. The Abissi was greatly done and it was impressive. The Aquarium was beautiful and we felt sorry for those wonderful fishes. Thanks for sharing this... More

An interesting visit to this old monastery. The guide was very helpful, and had a lot of knowledge about the history etc. It was very peaceful and quiet and i was quite envious of the monks! Worth visiting!
