UNESCO's Alberobello and Matera from Bari

48 reviews
With a private guide, visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in one day. First, explore Matera, including the Sassi area, a complex of cave dwellings carved into the mountainside. Nearby, rock churches house 13th-century frescoes. Then it’s on to Alberobello to see the Trulli, an awe-inspiring collection of mortarless limestone dwellings, a prehistoric building technique still used in the region.

We enjoyed a nice visit to the Cantina Albea Winery and Museum in Alberobello during our trip therelast summer. We've been on winery tours and tastings in the past but this was better than any others that I can remember. There was much more emphasis and detailed information about the exacting processing procedures than we had expected. It was a very good tour and well worth while.

We had a tour of the museum and a wine tasting following the tour. We were a group of about 45 people and they managed the testing in fun and efficient manner. The museum does a great job of explaining the history behind the local structures and other interesting facts about he area and its customs.

This was a great tour around the museum followed by a well presented tasting session. The staff were friendly and informative and the wines I found to be excellent.

If you are real wine connoisseur then this might be for you. We were a mixed group, with my friends and me wanting to try some wines. Made to sound all very over the top to me. I personally not keen on oak-aged wines, so wasn't really to my taste (not the winery's fault!).

With a personal guide throughout and cost free tasting of their great wines, it was great. We actually bought a case for delivery in the USA.
