UNESCO's Alberobello and Matera from Bari

43 reviews
With a private guide, visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in one day. First, explore Matera, including the Sassi area, a complex of cave dwellings carved into the mountainside. Nearby, rock churches house 13th-century frescoes. Then it’s on to Alberobello to see the Trulli, an awe-inspiring collection of mortarless limestone dwellings, a prehistoric building technique still used in the region.

We had a wine tasting in the shop and it was excellent. The local foods and snacks with the wine were absolutely divine. And the olive oil was incredible. I wish I had more room in my suitcase to buy a little of everything from this shop!

Lovely store with great selections of wine, olive oil, meat, cheese, pizzas and other regional products. Staff very polite and keen to offer samples and answer questions. Nice stop to sample, snack and to purchase souvenirs. Located in heart of the Trulli section in the town.

We had booked a food and wine tasting and were welcomed into this Enoteca which is full of local wines, food and specialities. The prepared plates of food with local cheeses and hams and olive and onion marmalades were simply delicious. The conversation about local culture and customs so informative and entertaining. We loved our afternoon and will come back. Thank you

I've been to many wine bars and wine tastings. This place is in a league of its own. A caveat up front - we came here with a tour so our experience may not be what one experiences as a drop-in customer. The owner is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he is doing. We were served multiple plates of small bites of food, prepared in the shop, to accompany the wines and liqueurs we tasted, so you did not feel obliged to spit out the wines tasted, or leave drunk. All the wines and liqueurs selected for tasting were delicious. In particular I enjoyed coming to know the liqueur Viagri, a creamy anise-flavored concoction. Prices were very reasonable. If you plan to be in Alberobello on your own, call ahead or write to ensure they are prepared to give you the full tasting experience. Come hungry. You won't regret it.

The owners of this wine shop was very knowledgable about wines. He speaks English and is very personable. He can help you choose wines and the region of Italy they are from. It was a delightful shopping experience. The shop also has other items. Olive oils and olive jamm (I know it sounds pretty odd, but it is great being miss it!
