UNESCO's Alberobello and Matera from Bari

48 reviews
With a private guide, visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in one day. First, explore Matera, including the Sassi area, a complex of cave dwellings carved into the mountainside. Nearby, rock churches house 13th-century frescoes. Then it’s on to Alberobello to see the Trulli, an awe-inspiring collection of mortarless limestone dwellings, a prehistoric building technique still used in the region.

Had a lovely visit into this quaint store. The owner was very friendly and invited us in to look around and try some local cuisine snacks. She told us stories from her upbringing and the history of the Trullos. Such a lovely village and would highly recommend the visit as a day trip from Bari.

Lovely store with wonderful, traditional food products and dried pastas stacked up the point of the truillo. You can see by the way of a slanted mirror the old bedroom and kitchen of the original truillo. Very lovely woman that helped us.

When we visited this food and gift shop, Maria was very friendly and helpful (not pushy)in describing her products which made it easy for me to choose from the multitude gift options in her store. She gave us background info on the house and they even have a mirror in the ceiling that reflects what a furnished upstairs Trulli bedroom would have looked like. The food products we brought home were delicious.

Wonderful shop. A small museum is inside ; a very tiny kitchen and an old bedroom. A very gentle lady showed and explained us every typical products. We tasted some wines and cheeses, so good!!!!! My advice??? Just go inside and see how nice is this shop , how good are their products and how gentle are ladies inside. I hope to come back again to see you.

We bought dried tomatoes and paid 3 Euros for 150 grams. The going price is 8 Euros for 1 Kilo. They charge 2.5X the going rate. The store is beautiful to look at just don't buy anything. By the way, all the tomatoes seem to be of the same quality and size.
