We cycled from Levanto to Framura. Cost from Sensafreni bike hire was reasonable for a half day of cycle hire and the bikes were city bikes perfectly suited to the flat track out to Framura. Note that Sensafreni bike hire is closed 13:00-16:00 so you will need to plan around that. The track goes through old railways tunnels which frequently open out to give you a view of the sea or access to a beach. Down one side tunnel we explored was a secluded plateau with paths through thick vegetation where we found a deeply suntanned man wandering around in just his pants by the sea. He looked at us for quite a long time so we soon left.

Framura itself was pretty empty so we did not spend too long there, instead returning to Bonassola's sandy beach for a swim and drinks at a café near the beach where they brought us complimentary nibbles with our drinks. The whole cycle including stops is about half-day's activity, so can easily be combined with something else in the area. For example, we looked around Levanto and took in the town including a visit to the church.

A very easy bike ride that takes no more than 40m to the end of the trail at Framura Station. 90% of the trail is in well lit tunnels where there is a walking lane as well as bike lanes. No cars.

I would not recommend walking as there is not much to see other than occasional gallery open to the sea below. Better to take the trail over the hill.

The beach at Bonassola is nice and at Framura there is not much to do unless you fancy walking to the villages at the top of the hill, probably a 45m walk.

A half day bike rental 6-7 euros from Levanto is perfect.

We hired bike from the Levanto surf shop in the nth of the town. The owner was very helpful and gave clear instructions for the ride and a tourist map. Cost 6 euro for 4 hrs. The ride trough the tunnels is easy to find at the beach front. The tunnels have a cool breeze and plenty of spots to stop and see the views. Framura is a bit tricky to get to the beach. Use the lift and then go under the rail line. You then find the beach at the end of the station. There are many swim spots along the way.

Was quite surprised to find such a nice and quite place without many tourist. I arrived in levanto after spending a few days in the cinque Terre and found it to be full of people by chance I took train to levanto as people said you should visit because is a nice place with nice restaurants and a number of places to sleep. Walking from the train station toward the center I found a small shop that was open for surfing shop named surflevanto strange never thought you could surf in the Mediterranean Sea well sometimes anyway as the handsome gentleman said but he also had bikes available for rent he told me I could find a 6km ride on the seaside that passed through old train tunnels from the past. The ride took a total of 30minutes to arrive to the end and along the way was possible to stop and swim or have a coffee in a small village called bonassola very beautiful little place the ride ending at the harbor of framura where you find little fishing boats and a great to watch the sunset I recommend this to everyone that wants to escape the crowds and enjoy the day as a Italians do so and if you are lucky to find this friendly gentleman ask him about the bike ride a very special place I will remember forever

We walked rather than cycled and bonosolla was fab. However the walk from there to framura is mostly through tunnels and theres not much to do when you get there. Theres just a train station and a beach cafe its not an actual town seems like a townland

We hired battery powered bikes for the day, to escape the crowds.
The riding was flat and we travelled north along the old railway which is now a fully paved cycleway.
Views along the route are the best!
There are delightful little cafes along the way, where you can take in the view while sampling local delicasies.
A great way to spend a day.

This bike ride was one of the highlights of our stay in Levanto. The tunnels are flat and very well sealed and lit which makes for an easy ride. The first part, to Bonossola, is made up of several tunnels broken up by wonderful vistas directly out to sea. The town of Bonossola is quite quiet and looks like a smaller version of Levanto. The tunnels to Framura are much longer and there are v few breaks so it does seem quite a long way but well worth the ride. The town of Framura is well up above the end of the cycle trail so we didnt go up there. A really enjoyable outing!

Let me be clear, I am not a fan of bike riding....at all....
Unless it's in old train tunnels from Framura to Levanto! We took advantage of an overcast day to explore the trail and I am so glad we did! The ride is extremely easy and perfect for families. We started in Framura, rented 3 bikes as well as a bike seat and helmet for our youngest daughter and were gone a couple of hours. We biked clear to Levanto, enjoyed lunch and then rode back. The whole thing was less than 20 euros! The views were great and the kids loved it, a great break from all the hiking trails, stairs and more costly adventures!
** You pass excellent beaches along the way if you want to incorporate it into your day.

This was a fun way to spend a few hours but there wasn't much to see or do when we got to Framura . Don't let that stop you there are some great photo opportunities along the ride. Good for beginners like me .
