We walked the Bonassola-Framura route in 30 min with a fast pace. The stretches indoors are quite long and the views are few but noteworthy. We stopped to admire the view on the benches that are halfway along the route. Arrived in Framura we were pleasantly surprised by the unexpected landscape. Highly recommended.

We walked along the beach boardwalk in Levanto to the newly renovated train tunnels, that are now for pedestrians and bicycles. It's an easy 30-35 minute walk, in and out of tunnels, with beautiful rocky cliffs and clear blue water overlooks. The beach in Bonasola is inviting, although small rocks and gravel, not sand. The colors in the rocks are jade green, pink-maroon, marbled black, tan, pink. Lovely!T he water is clean and clear, with good waves for splashing around in.

We were based in Levanto and walked to Bonassola via the tunnel. We did it late in the afternoon and wish we had rented bikes instead. Looked like an easy bike ride as it is flat. I would have ridden all the way to Framura. Instead, we walked to Bonassola and back to Levanto. Nice way to spend a few hours. We also walked around Bonassola a bit. I recommend getting a bike and ride the path.

When the town council and/or the state railway company made the wise decision in about the middle of the last century to move the railway to the back of the town of Levanto, this meant two things. One, the beach was no longer cut off from the town by a working railway track, and, two, the old railway tunnel became redundant.

The tunnel has always provided a route between Levanto and Bonassola, its smaller clone, but only in fairly recent times has the track been resurfaced, lighting been installed and the inside of the tunnels spruced up, with most leaks from the roof stopped. (Remember, the tunnel was never meant for public use.)

It is now a properly marked cycle and walking route that runs through some beautiful seaside scenery. I find the walk is just enough to set me up for a coffee and an ice-cream in Bonassola, then the return. In the last couple of years the route has been extended from Bonassola to the tiny village of Framura, where the scenery is, if anything, even lovelier, but the amenities are few.

We used the walk through the old train tunnels to return to our hotel in Levanto from Bonassola at night. Felt very safe. Well lite, with many other walkers and also cyclists.

Most of the time you are in the tunnels, but occasionally one has views of the rocky coast. These were beautiful on our moon lite walk.

First off, let's correct Linda's belief that you can bicycles to Framura. Not unless to take a hwy, the trail does not go there. Trail 1c does but it is a goat trail. This trail is a Great walk, about 3 kms one way with an additional section north of Bonnasola if you climb at steep set of steps from near the base of the church. Add another 1/2 km.
Excellent for people watching on a Sunday when the locals are occupying all the little beach spots.
Good focaccia place in Bonnasola, and great gelato shop in Levanto. Life is good.

I spend most summer here and love waking up and going for a run along the beach from Levanto to bonasola or framuta.
In the evenings, we normally go through the tunnels by bike with family and friends to have dinner in bonasola.
A great walk for family with kids or couples to see the sunset.

A nice alternative to the CT hikes, this is all flat and an easy walk between Levanto and Bonassola. From there we took the train to Santa Margherita but didn't allow enough time for Portofino so would recommend doing the walk very early if you want to continue on by train.

As we stayed in Bonassola but were frequently going to Levanto to catch the train this was a very useful pathway. It seems perfectly safe and is well lit. I had been worried that it would be a rather boring walk but there are places where you can magically look out to the sea.

This was an easy walk from Levanto to Bonassola. Lovely views of the ocean and beaches along the way. I stayed in Levanto and it was a nice activity to walk to Bonassola.
