I have been visiting Nola and the surrounding towns for the past 40 years, and I never get bored. Il Duomo is a must see. The architecture and the frescoes will take your breath away. The Piazza Duomo is centre stage to the annual festival known as "La Festa Dei Gigli" which is a wonder to behold.

It is a cathedral church, rebuilt in 1900, where people venerate the relics of St. Paulinus. The square is the headquarters of the testival of the "Gigli", recently proclaimed intangible heritage of humanity by the UNESCO. At the end of June you can see them (the Gigli) over there, exposed all together and very closely to you: the work of the great "cartapestai" masters at a very short hand .... beautiful frame for this fantastic festival!

We came to Nola to visit some friends and while walking around the city I entered the Cathedral, unfortunately there was mass, so I couldn't see all the areas, however I admired something.
The ceiling is very beautiful and also the side part of the right nave.
The photos certainly express better what I saw.

vast and majestic neoclassical cathedral rebuilt after a fire at the end of the 19th century. the only surviving chapel from the 16th century is that of the immaculate. beautiful wooden statues and reliquaries. the crypt of S Felice is very interesting and preserves splendidly crafted bas-reliefs from the 6th and 12th centuries , from the 15th and 16th centuries, a mystical and particular place.
