Small winery - Fantastic Wines
Oct 2015 • Couples
Bambinuto is a small family owned winery headed by Marilena Aufiero. Marilena, who greeted us with a warm welcoming smile, provided us a tour of her vineyards. The views are spectacular. Make sure you take your hiking shoes/boots because the vineyards can be muddy. After the vineyard tour Marilena provided us a tour of her cantina during which she explained her production methods and philosophy. Marilena, a creative winemaker dedicated to sustainable viticulture, is willing to "push the envelop" so to speak to try new ways of producing wines. For the final part of the visit we relaxed at her tasting room and tried several of wines. Our favorites are Picoli (made with the greco di tufo grape) and Matertea (made with the aglianico grape). As previous posters have noted the wine tasting includes cheese, cured meats and taralli. Take your time and enjoy the wines and the company.

Delightful Experience
Apr 2015 • Friends
We visited this winery with Gaetano Petrillo of The Wine Bus, and we were delighted with the experience. First, Marlena, the owner, took us to the vineyards. There she explained in great detail and in an engaging fashion the different grapes; she also explained the impact of a few meters here or there affected the grapes. She also explained how the vineyard got its name. We then went to the cellar for the tasting of 3 wines accompanied by cured local meats, cheeses, and taralli. She then explained the different wine varieties. We were especially impressed with one of her white wines. The area of Irpinia in the province of Avellino is especially scenic as well. The views from the vineyards were spectacular. I would strongly recommend a visit to the winery for the views, the educational experience and the tastings. I also recommend you use Gaetano Petrillo of The Wine Bus for your tours. He is extraordinary.

We haven't stopped talking about our wonderful experience at Cantina Bambinuto in beautifull Avellino. As soon as we arrived the owner, Marielena greeted us with a kind welcome and personally gave us a tour of her vineyard. She is passionate about what she does and you can taste it in her gorgeous wines! After the tour of the vineyard she invited us to a wine tasting at her cantina where she had a delicious spread of appetizers waiting for us. They were a perfect complement to the Greco di Tufo, Falangina, and Aglianico wines. We bought some beautiful wines to enjoy at home. Thank you Marielna for making us feel like royalty!
