Exquisite, but take a boat there!
Jun 2021 • Couples
An exquisite beach: classic aqua water, gorgeous cove, even a rock overhang for some shade. We passed a wonderful day there... However, it is really out of the way, and the road which we needed to take to get there was terrifying and treacherous, even in our 4-wheel vehicle...switchbacks on piles of rocks with no safety fence on the edge of many cliffs. So my advice is: GO BY BOAT! Apparently very possible from Chora.

Breathtaking beach
Jul 2019
You are fully compensated for the 9km of rough dirt road. The sandy beach is magnificent, the crystal clear water inviting and the serenity of the place (at least when I was there in Mid July) simply enchanting. Recommended.

Walking there is worth it!
Jul 2019 • Couples
We decided to visit Achla Beach by taking the 4,2km hiking trail starting from Agios Nicholaos Monastery (you can park there). It’s not a difficult trail, but you need to wear trekking sandals or sneakers.
It is a very panoramic trail that offers beautiful views of the bay which is waiting for you just below...
Going down is relaxing and it will take about 1,5hrs. I would recommend to go early in the morning, to avoid the heat and to enjoy Achla Beach before it is “attacked” by the tourists who get there by boat (you will see them after 11am).
Take plenty of water with you and something to eat, because Achla Beach is worth to stay for the day!
Take your time when you decide to come back “up” because that is obviously a little bit harder and we took about 2 hrs to complete it.

Quiet peaceful
Jul 2019 • Couples
We jumped on a boat from Chora and 30 minutes later we arrived at this lovely peaceful beach. A family of swans visited us. Well worth a visit. No cafes or ice cream vans, just enjoy the swimming and exploring the cave.

Lovely, but overcrowded
Jun 2018 • Couples
Visited this impressive beach by road, taking in the wonderful scenery with bated breath at each hairpin bend!

Great to get there fairly early to have loads of space BUT then all the day trippers arrived on a flotilla of tour boats of all shapes and sizes and it was time to leave!

Will return, but definitely out of season

Awesome beach
Jun 2018 • Couples
The beach is really nice and extremely quiet in early June. We walked there from the monastery. The way down is easy, the way up a bit harder (but we did it in 1h15).

Shadow is sparse on the path and on the beach, so bring water and sun lotion.

At this period, no beach bar was visible.

Crystal clear waters!
Aug 2017 • Friends
This is an amazing looong sandy beach, with relatively deep, clear clear blue waters. Choose a day without wind, as winds coming from the North will cause waves. Also, not easily accessible, unless you have a 4x4 car. Better opt for the little boat from Chora port for your transportation-saves time and effort! :) Perfect if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing beach!

Words simply cannot describe the beauty of this beach.
It is a long and difficult drive from the town of Andros, but the reward is worth it.

Most wonderful beach i have ever visited
Sep 2017 • Friends
If you are in Andros during summer time you must include a visit to the magical beach of Achla. You will swim in water that can only be described as liquid glass, having exquisite palette of blues and greens. The beach is golden with small stones of a type I have never seen before as they shine under the sun. The natural scenery surrounding the beach composes the remaining living canvas of a view to have been admired since the beginning of human life. The only reminder of what century I was on was the christian church at the corner, sitting peacefully above the beach.

Definitely the best beach I have ever visited in my life.

For accessing Achla beach I took the boat from Chora port. Its not expensive (12.5 € return pp) and the ride is only 30 minutes long.

Perfection in beach form
Sep 2017 • Couples
As many reviewers have noted, this beach is spectacular, mostly because it is a) remote, and b) hard to get to. Only go by 4x4 or via boat. Avoid the weekends and you'll likely have it mostly to yourself!
