There is a lot of colour and shiny gold in this museum. It is €2.00 to enter and is well worth the money. There are so many painting and some from several centuries ago. You need to buy this ticket to tour the upper levels of the church next door.

The best of this museum is that you have an amazing view over the city and to the portara. Inside there are very poor elements, not really worth going there and pay the entrance.

In my opinion, this museum is better than the more popular Archaeological Museum close by. It is inside an original Venetian tower forming part of the Kastro city walls. Small museum but full of interesting exhibits and text, worth the €2 charge. The museum also has a wonderful balcony with the best view over the town and the famous Portara. This is a very old building so don't expect the modern interactive exhibits you find in a big city museum, this place has an old-fashioned charm. …

Small, beautiful space with a fantastic view of the port and a pretty sitting room to read or draw. There is not much on exhibit, except a small dome with some frescoes, but a very pretty place to soak in the view and the history. Worth a quick visit.

The museum needs a lot of care and work, so that it can showcase the Byzantine treasures of Naxos. It is under-staffed and not well-explained. Beautiful views of the port and the Portara.
