The best of this museum is that you have an amazing view over the city and to the portara. Inside there are very poor elements, not really worth going there and pay the entrance.

In my opinion, this museum is better than the more popular Archaeological Museum close by. It is inside an original Venetian tower forming part of the Kastro city walls. Small museum but full of interesting exhibits and text, worth the €2 charge. The museum also...More

Small, beautiful space with a fantastic view of the port and a pretty sitting room to read or draw. There is not much on exhibit, except a small dome with some frescoes, but a very pretty place to soak in the view and the history....More

The museum needs a lot of care and work, so that it can showcase the Byzantine treasures of Naxos. It is under-staffed and not well-explained. Beautiful views of the port and the Portara.

It's quite small, actually, with fragments of the byzantine history of the Cyclades, but definitely worth a visit. The small balcony offers a great view of the medieval settlement, the port and the breathtaking Portara.

It's surprising how little is made of the Byzantine period in Greece's museum culture. Obviously with such a wealth of Ancient and Classical sites, the Byzantine era seems almost modern by comparison and perhaps that explains the apparent ambivalence with which it seems to be...More

This museum really provides a simple overview of Byzantine art and architecture in the Cyclades islands. This will give you a focus of the some of the highlights of the Cycladic islands. The heavy lifting of Byzantine art that should not be missed is at...More

Housed inside the Naxos Fortress and the Glezos Tower the Museum is partly free with a small charge to explore the cellars and is a good viewing point over the Town towards the Temple of Apollo from the exterior balcony. It houses many good exhibits...More
