- claudie62Boulogne-sur-Mer, France1,495 contributionsVery nice beachVery large sandy beach just outside Naxos city. There are many sunbeds but there is still room for those who do not want to rent. The promenade is concrete and lined with bars and restaurants. Parking a little behind (are there enough spaces?)Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 23, 2024
- TBManchester, United Kingdom23 contributionsGreat beach, expensive sun bedsThe beach itself is beautiful. It’s very long, but doesn’t feel too crowded. Although we didn’t go to any there are plenty of bars/restaurants in the vicinity, as well as toilet and washing facilities. Unfortunately, most of the beach is taken up by sun loungers, which were extortionately priced (at time of visit, 50€ a day for 2 beds and an umbrella). This is far more expensive than beaches on other islands. As such, we led on beach towels on the ground.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 8, 2024
- Heini M67 contributionsNice beach for everyoneSafe beach for small children. You must walk long away until beach go deep. Nice sandy beach with crystal clear water. We just visited there by walk and not taking sun beds. One of those cost 40€ for 2. Lot of people but you fit there. Restaurant services and toilet and showers found there also.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 15, 2024
- SirGiacChioFlorence, Italy60 contributionsNaxos Town beach is always full of tourists, but extraordinarily convenientIt is comfortable compared to all the others. Not only because if you have Accommodation in the city you do not have to take the car to reach the heavenly other beaches, but also because it is equipped for all tastes and still has a sand in the entrance and in the seabed that immediately makes it the favorite of children. The beach is almost half a kilometer long. An umbrella with two sunbeds in the central area can even cost 50 euros. Costs are lowered when moving to the outermost parts of the bay. Several free beaches. The last bath in the direction of the airport cost 30 euros the whole day. Interesting both extreme rocks of the beach, both towards the port and on the opposite side. Here, in fact, snorkelling is pleasant and the visibility of the seabed allows you to face in serenity and safety even the high waters around the hill overlooking the parking lot. Above this small promontory there is yet another abandoned building on the island. As in Aliko but more modest in size. Also here in the visit you can find beautiful murals and a splendid view of the harbor and the beach. Just below there is the town hall of Naxos which faces between itself and the sea a life-size statue of the Sphinx of Delos, donated by the inhabitants to the Sacred Island, very suggestive at the edge of the beach towards the port.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 24, 2024
- Travel TacticianAthens, Greece194 contributionsBeautiful Beach with Plenty of Options and Crystal Clear WaterI recently visited this beautiful beach, which remains quite busy even in the afternoon hours. Despite the crowd, it is easy to find a spot at one of the many beach bars lined up along the shore. There are also areas with free access for those who prefer a more natural setting. The waters are incredibly clean, thanks to the open Aegean Sea, and the beach is covered with soft sand both on the shore and in the water, making it an ideal location for a relaxing day by the sea. The beach is conveniently located close to Naxos center, making it easily accessible for both tourists and locals. The combination of well-maintained beach bars and free access areas provides a perfect balance for visitors looking for convenience or a more secluded experience. This beach is truly a gem and highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy the pristine waters and beautiful sandy shores of the Aegean, all within a short distance from Naxos center.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 7, 2024
- Tour021618542755 contributionsSaint George Beach, highly recommended.A very nice holiday destination. Nice terraces nearby. Beautiful sandy beach, clean beach and clear water. Sometimes waves when boat arrived. Long walk-in from beach to sea. Attractive prices for 2 sunbeds, but nice and wide and thick mattress, and 1 umbrella. Rent from 35 Euro to 50 Euro per day. Guests of Naxos Resort paid 20 Euro. Topless should be used very little. Taxi to Haven with beautiful restaurants and terraces also spicy at the price, Euro 25. Easy to rent car, buggy, scooter, e-scooter. Walk to port about 12 minutes. Hilly.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 2, 2024
- Isa7777Montreal, Canada15 contributionsBeautiful beachBeautiful beach with a clear and warm sea. The beach is gently sloping. The waves aren't too strong. The beach is busy but not crowded. It is possible to rent beds for 30 euros for the day. There are several places to eat and have a drink. In short a beautiful beach.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 11, 2024

This beach is easy walking distance from Naxos Chora and the hotels and apartments in and around the town. There are hotels and apartments facing the beach. There are more loungers and umbrellas than in the past and, of the beaches we visited, they were the most expensive. Would imagine they are hard to come by and even more expensive in peak months. Limited space at the town end for lying on the sand with a towel; as you walk further away there are more open spaces. There's a good choice of restaurants and a couple of cafes on the beach itself and a range of shops and eating places just behind the beach. Swimming is safe and the entry into the water is gentle, although there is some seaweed (quite harmless). If there is a strong wind the water becomes more choppy. Avoid the further end of the beach on very windy days because the sand blows onto your towels and can cover them. There are lifeguards on duty and the beach is safe for children although they need watching if they are enjoying the waves on windier days.

Our hotel was along this beach and it offered a lovely view. We also enjoyed a nice lunch and dinner at 2 different beach club restaurants which had great vibes. This beach does not have the really nice sand and turquoise water of the prettier beaches of Prokopios & Plaka which are just a 15 minute drive away. That's where we went when we wanted to swim and hang out on the beach during the day. The cost of the chairs/umbrella are the same and they are nicer beaches that also have the beach club restaurants. We still enjoyed staying along the beach close to the charming old town of Chora and would choose this option again. it's really nice having a 10 minute walk to the town which offers great restaurants, shopping and a charming atmosphere.

ust south of the Naxos port, about 5 minutes walk the Agios Georgios beach is nestled. The sand is clean with plenty of beds to rent or get free if you spend usually more than 5 Euros. Some shade can be found at the edge of the beach under the few trees. The access into crystal clear and without seaweed water is convenient without many stones. The only disadvantageous is too shallow water which can be on the other had advantage for families . There are many restaurants or bar to choose from. The first one . Kavouri offers good Greek fare for good value.

This was our 3rd visit, last one 8 years ago. Although we love where we stayed at Villa Naxia, this area has become overwhelmed by visitors. It is not a quiet place. Even in September it is packed, with resulting burden on the town's infrastructure. Unless the crowds and scene are what you're looking for, we found south Naxos much more enjoyable.

Although there were a number of people on the beach when we visited in the late afternoon it certainly wasn’t crowded. Although there were lots of loungers and parasols, we just sat on towels and were absolutely fine. The sea was very calm and the beach gently sloping so it was very safe for swimming. It’s right in Naxos town so easily accessible.

This Island Naxos is our favor Because it Combines Best Food, Night Pleasant walks along the Port, Very Relaxing Strolls in Town, A Lot of Stores to View and Buy. The Saint-George beach is the Safest beach for Small Children. There are Other Beaches that Gather Teens and Young Adults with Deeper Cool waters and more fun. The Best Asset of This Island are, Excellent Food and Service as well as the People working in Hospitality Section. Pricewise I will Say Is Affordable Comparing with Other more Popular Islands. Still be Aware, Search A Lot Before Hotel Booking. Some Hotels Post High Prices.

Cant ever tire of St George Beach. Sift clean sand , gentle slope in the clean water. Fabulous amenities but never too crowded. Beach bars to traditional Greek tavernas. You can stroll a mile round the bay to get away from the crowds and lounges. With natural sand dunes and vegetation. My favourite beach Taverna is Yialos , the menu is outstanding, the service likewise. Best local wine here in all of Chora.

Sandy beach with nice waves, free but with options for paid sun beds. Very little trash.
I didn’t notice any unpleasant animals and only minor seaweeds in the water. The water is shallow for quite some time, making it comfortable.

I had seen the pics and thought they were fake. To my surprise the pics don't do it justice. We figured out the teal water is where it's more shallow and the blue is deeper water. Because this is a shallow beach, it really does have the big teal part leading into the deep blue. Pics don't do it justice because they can't catch the movement and sparkle. Our room was on the beach and I could watch the sunset every night. Just beautiful.

Are there beach umbrellas and lounge chairs at St George Beach?
Written February 22, 2019
Yes. Many. They cost about 10 euro a day for the public. We stayed in nearby Ippakampos Hotel which has lounge chairs and bar/food service on this beach and paid only 5 euros. There is also lots of space for sitting on towels.
