I fall in love with this charming part of the city. Day or night I enjoyed seamlessly roaming the narrow streets full of boutiques, taverns, galleries and little houses where still the locals live, not just seized by tourists. From some parts there as beautiful views of the city. Unfortunately some buildings such as the Tower or museum which are currently under the reconstruction.

A construction around which the city was found. Unfortunately undermaintained and now a days closed, maybe for construction, which isn't obvious. To be found on the top of the Old city, which actually is pretty charming as a climbing to the top companion.

Love castles, and this one was a unique experience with peoples houses being on the inside, lovely quaint little alleys and a lovely panoramic view of Naxos from inside view point.

As you climb the various streets and stairs you travel back in time. Boutiques and cafes wind up the slope to the walled castle and adjoining churches, monasteries and fortifications. You can spend the day, or, in September, enjoy the various Domus festival activities at night. A great way to be a cultural tourist.

During our time of exploring the old town we came across this impressive structure and it is breathtaking. The Venetians left their mark in a very beautiful way on the old town and this is nowhere better illustrated than Kastro. It is living history in the centre of town and easily explored on foot. This is at no cost to yourselves but do try to find a map as it is quite easy to get lost up there!
