Tucked inside the old castle. Lots of stairs to arrive but so worth the steps. Celebrated my birthday here with some new friends that I meet here on Naxos. Awesome views. It's a spot for just drinks, coffees, and sweets. A definate don't miss.

Get lost in the little pedestrian streets. Very interesting to explore the castle. Make sure to visit the archaeological museum! If you like photography you will find inspiration and you will surely take some nice photos.

We are enjoying our sixth festival, and it is a tribute to the organisers that they are able to put on such high quality performances. The musicians entertaining us this year have been of an incredible calibre. The new venue is in some ways better,...More

Before you arrived to Naxos you can see the castle from the boat. And you can see it from many other places from the town. Recommended.

Built in 1207 we entered the castle via the lift at the non seaside entrance - straight to the 4th floor at 0.5 Euro per person for lift maintenance - it was a bargain. We wandered through the rooftop cafe after taking some photos from...More

I walked up here first for a guitar concert near the Catholic Cathedral and experienced the great views over the harbour at night. Later during the day I explored the little archaeological museum and enjoyed the shops going up and down.

We went for a stroll in the evening before dinner and this was a really beautiful place with narrow pathways and plenty of history. Few beautiful places to discover on the way. There was a theatre hidden in the alley ways which looks interesting but...More

Simply beautiful, well preserved without being ruined by modern times (too much). The contrast with the the Ancient Greek ruins is also very interesting.

Not too commercial part of the Chora, full of narrow pathways and staircases, with a couple of points of interest. The cultural center offers excellent musical performances in the summer.

There are many boats to visit Naxos Island. Of course from Santorini port you can arrive into 3 hours with blue star ferries.

In Skiathos at the moment - Mamma Mia Church questions (15 Replies)
We are having a lovely time in Skiathos at the moment and I really want to climb the mamma Mia steps. Firstly, is there an organised boat trip that actually stops there? All of the ones I've seen on the harbour have a photo stop only? If not, how much is a taxi likely to cost if we get the ferry across? Is there a bus or anything? Then - how easy are the steps to climb? I already have a pretty bad bruise from where the Kastro climb 'got me' - I just want to be prepared if I'll have...More

Look for the boat,The Calypso,it berths near the Ferry stop. This is the only boat that lands near the church, have done the trip and really enjoyed it but have to say getting on and off the beach was a bit hair raising!!!

Kastro (1 Reply)
Hi everyone xx we've now booked a table at Kastro for an anniversary dinner in August - we've booked the table for 7.30pm - but wont be wanting to eat until 9pm - 9.30pm ish onwards... Will they mind us sitting at an outside table just havng drinks/olives from 7.30pm, and ordering later on? If you think they would mind, where else would be the best spot to view the sunset? I can change the time of our booking to reflect when we want to eat? And ultimately - is Kastro worth going...More

I can't speak for them but if I were a restaurant owner I'd want my customers to spend money, not just drink wine and olives for 2 hours. Kastro is definitely worth it food-wise, they have some excellent offerings on their menu. Oia has many excellent affordable restaurants. Try Skala, Laokasti, Red Bicycle, Roka, Papagalos, Anemomilos Hotel Restaurant and Lotza. For just drinks at sunset go to either the Pelekanos Cafe or the cafe at the Golden Sunset Villas (look for the windmill). I...More

How often does the bus to Thasos town leave? I think we will spend a few nights in town, I suppose we have to take a taxi back.
