We did a 9/10km circular trek through the Tragea valley from Halki to Moni and back. Our expert guide Yiota explained some of the history of the area pointing out the Byzantine churches as well as the different vegetation. The walk was mainly on rough mountain tracks and walking shoes were preferable. There were a few steep parts but nothing too difficult We were able to stop near Moni at a welcoming local bar for refreshment which was good given the heat. This is definitely the best way to see the interior of the island and learn about its history and we would highly recommend it.

This was definitely a highlight of my recent trip to Greece. Our guide, Yiota, knew so much about Naxos and the area covered in the hike - the history, the plants, etc. We learned about the people living on the island, how they lived, their religion and where they worshipped -I wouldn't change one thing about the entire experience. After the hike we went to a wonderful restaurant. Yiota knew just what to order and we had a delicious lunch. I would recommend Naxos Trekking and this hike to anyone visiting the island.

A great way to see Naxos! Yiota, our guide is amazing. Very knowledgeable and made the whole trek very enjoyable! The hike is about 3-4 hours long. Not too demanding. The area we travelled through has a very rich history and Yiota added so much context to what we were looking at, how it came to be, and how it impacts what goes on today. Would highly recommend this to anyone travelling to Naxos

The hike, history, views, meal, and guide were all a highlight of our trip to Naxos. If you are looking into the context of history, agriculture, and the people of this wonderful island, there is no better way than this experience.

The hike was very casual. There was so much to see and so much beauty throughout that by the time we ended at a local tavern for one of the best meals of our trip we didn’t even realize how much time had passed.

Our guide was informative and pleasant, but the best thing about them was how our conversation was able to drift between history, current life and culture, and personal experience perfectly.

If you are on Naxos, make the time to plan this excursion. You even have enough time to get to the beach to cool off at the end of the day!

We hiked upper, middle, and lower Potamia and had an absolutely wonderful time. The houses and gardens were all so beautiful! Our guide Yoti was very knowledgeable and made the hike fun as well as educational. I highly recommend a hike to explore Naxos.

My favorite part of our trek was our guide Yiota’s knowledge and experience. She commented all along the trek and gave us all the information we requested. The trek in itself was exactly as described, not too easy and not too demanding. We went through various villages which Yiota commented profusely and we ended our trip at the local taverna where again we got a lot of insight on the local specialties and got to sample many dishes. A perfect day in all respects!

We did the number 4 hike around Halki with Yiota. Yiota shared so much interesting information with us about her homeland. We hiked for about three hours stopping at many incredible byzantine churches and monasteries and Yiota hosted us at the top for a delicious lunch at a little family owned taverna. Great day out! The weather cooperated - not too hot. The ground is uneven so wear good walking/hiking shoes and long pants to protect from the occasional scratchy bush. Highly recommend!

Yiota was an amazing guide, informative, caring, and personable. She explained the history of the island and the village we traveled through. We explored a part of Naxos that we could have never found otherwise. She managed in our short visit to immerse us in the local Naxos culture and foods.

Yiotta led us on a fabulous hike in Naxos. She explained the natural sites/topogrpahy and the historic ruins. Small details, such as snacks and water, were appreciated as well. We loved the hike and saw parts of Naxos we never would have discovered on our own.

Our lovely guide, Yiota was most interesting and knowledgeable about this beautiful island of Naxos!
