But it's in a rundown area by the ships. Nice view of Harbour from here. It memorializes the soldiers who fought in WWI and was erected in 1919. An eternal flame was added in 1969 perhaps for Vietnam.

Beautiful Arch with eternal flame, but other than that there isn't much to do around it and homeless hanging around the park next to it.

This hidden gem is easily passed over, but has beautiful views of the James River, It's not in the best part of town, so make sure to go mid-day.

The arch is modeled after the Arch de Triumph in Paris. It was originally built near the end of WWI from wood. In the early 1960s it was rebuilt of stone. It has an eternal flame burning in the front center. There are four brass...More

I've been going to the Victory Arch since I was in my teens and the Warwick Hotel was up and running. Now I take my grandchildren so they can appreciate the wonderful history & exciting places in Newport News, VA.

I was deeply impressed by this tribute to American fighting forces and by the desire of the community to honor those returning from battle.
