The park is littered with civil war fortifications - you can actually walk the trenches and dugouts that were erected during the Peninsula campaign of McClellan. It is the actual dugouts - not reenactments. Also overall its a nice park for picnics, hiking, etc.

One of the best city parks I have been to, very well laid out, large sites, close to many attractions. New reception center. The only draw back is it doesn't have sewage, must dump on way out.

Great walks, historic markers at battle sites, lots of quiet paths, and plenty of playgrounds for the parents of small, children.

Enjoyed the atmosphere. If you go early enough you can go on the paddle boats and see the animals inside of the club house. Nice trail for walking and running.

Had a good time until it started raining. There were plenty of outdoor activities for the kids. The park is closely located to highway 64 and Fort Eustis.

It's great for a couple to walk or go for a nice jog. Has nice locations for birthday parties, several playgrounds for young children & they love to feed to birds & fish

We've biked the trails many times. Walking them is fun as well, but watch out for tree roots. If there are leaves on the path, it's not always easy to see them. So much to see and experience out in the woods. Most trails either cross or are at some point near the reservoir, so great views of the water.... More
