Drove over an hour to visit, and when we asked to use the restroom we were told "Non." Very rude. How can a business that serves the public either not have a restroom or deny guests use of it? No apologies, no suggestions, so we turned around and drove back. Nice drive there from Loumarin but I would not recommend bothering.

We recently visited Chateau La Canorgue as part of a long planned trip to visit the locations used in the Ridley-Scott/Russell Crowe film "A Good Year". The small part of the grounds you are allowed to see is lovely but the reception we received was frosty to say the least. In the cave they are happy to exhibit photos of the film set and sell copies of the DVD. They even sell La Coin Perdu, the "illegal" wine featured in the film. This is relatively expensive at 15.50€ a bottle and was not available to be tasted. We were advised it should be kept for 1-2yrs before opening, I hope it's worth the wait. Apart from this the attitude of the woman who served us was curt to the point of rudeness. I can appreciate that the chateau owners want to protect their privacy but they seem happy to use the film as a selling point but they are not welcoming or friendly. We would have bought more wine (as we did at the location for Duflot's house where we were made to feel very welcome) if the reception had been friendly. A very disappointing visit.

I have been drinking wine from La Canorgue for many years on visits to Provence, and now living in the area, I am happy to have a few bottles in my cellar. It is because of the film, that I, and many others learned of the existence of La Canorgue, learned to love its wine, and became a customer. Now the owners tell us that they are tired of the attention the film brought them, yet at the same time they cash in on the film by selling a wine with the same name, Coin Perdu, that was used in the film. The messages on the web site, and the signs at La Canorgue telling film tourists to stay away, while taking advantage of the film to sell Coin Perdu at 20 euros per bottle, is shocking, In restaurants in local villages I often overhear tourists ordering a bottle of La Canorgue "because it comes from where A Good Year was filmed you know...." (Most recently last week in Oppede). My message is think again before dismissing your heritage! Would you have had the success you have without the film? If you really want to forget the film, why not forget Coin Perdu?

We take into consideration your remarks and are really sorry to read your comment. However we wish to give you some precision that, we do hope, will help you to understand better what you see only from the outside. The domain was indeed the place of shooting of the movie "a good year" in 2005. The movie was a very beautiful experience and we do not absolutely denigrate it. We do regret the irespectful attitude of very numerous fans of the movie... that respect absolutely nothing. Disrespect that we had never experienced since then with our customers, but that we unfortunately observe almost every day since the movie was released. We are not tired of the attention on the movie as you said, but tired to see daily curious fans climbing without any gene, walls, trees, entrance gate of the domain, for a " photo souvenir "! Tired to see tour operators taking our domain for an amusement park or for a public garden (and collecting by the way money from their customers!) Tired to be invaded by curious which roam all day long (and even late in the evening!) in the domain, camera in the hand, in search of the places of the various scenes of the movie but who are absolutely not interested in the wine or in our history ... If you come for several years to the domain, you certainly noted that signs were not there a few years ago, but unfortunately the disrespectful attitudes of the fans of the movie increased and pushed us to act that way. Furthermore, this frenzy for the movie, is damaging the tranquillity of the customers who do come to the domain for our wines. Speaking about the success and the publicity of the domain thanks to the movie …we fortunately did not wait for the movie to have our wines appreciated. For more than 40 years , our wines are regularly awarded in the most prestigious national and international wine competitions, referenced in all the main guides of wines, in France and abroad…and appreciated by many wine lovers. Those past months for example our wines were selected among " the best 2016 vintage French wines » in the Revue des Vins de France, referenced « coup de cœur » on the Guide Hachette, and got one of the best grade on the wine guide Bettane & Desseauve. To conclude, we just want to let you know that we produce approximately 250 000 bottles a year. The Coin Perdu wine, made from a small parcell of 100 years old vines, planted by the great grandfather (Pierre Campagne, from where initials CP comes from , wink of the movie to this very old production), is produced only in some hundred bottles a year and thus represents only a tiny tiny part of our total production, and is far from representing a financial basket as you said. Just let us remind you that the Coin Perdu is not just "the wine from the movie" as you wrote, but the wine-making inheritance left by our family and we are very proud of it. We would however have preferred to speak about that and to explain you all this verbally, we usually prefer human exchanges rather than unfounded comments left in an anonymous way. We anyway remain at your disposal at the winery and would be happy to discuss about this if you wish to, during your next stop. Nathalie MARGAN

Like many people, we discovered the wines of Chateau La Canorgue because of the movie "A Good Year". We have visited several of the scene locations and we have been treated with friendliness and courtesy everywhere except at Chateau Canorgue. The saleslady, if you could call her that, should find a different occupation. The reception was quite rude considering the winery must have throngs of American visitors that value cordiality highly. It doesn't take much effort to be polite. Rudeness by staff leaves customers feeling unwelcome and reflects poorly on your entire region. Fortunately the salesman there was helpful and nice. We left happy to have purchased the excellent wine they produce, but wondering why the ownership puts up with the arrogance of some of the staff.

We take into consideration your remarks and are really sorry that your visit at La Canorgue did not give you complete satisfaction. The winery was indeed the place of shooting of the movie "a good year" in 2005. From over 12 years now, we are unfortunately invaded by hordes of curious , and of fans of the movie who have very often a disrespectful and arrogant attitude. All the members of our team are human being, and unfortunately after beeing confronted to obnoxious visitors, our team members sometimes lose their smile and patience. We are really sorry that you paid the price for it and we do hope to have the opportunity to receive you again at La Canorgue..

We came here first because of "A Good Year" and although the house terrace is private, they seem happy enough for people to stroll around the vines and pond and take photos. It is a lovely setting and very picturesque. I think the movie was about 2006 but the place looks much the same with its shabby charm. Carole S had a frosty reception. In my three visits I would call it businesslike but never cool. I don't speak chatty French and so I think businesslike is about all I would expect. We keep coming back because they actually make good wine. The rose in the blue bottle is crisp and perfumed and the Coin Perdu based on the movie is an enjoyable red with some prospect for cellaring (but I always buy it for holiday consumption so you don't have to wait). Just out of Bonnieux, I think this is good visit.

Let me start off by saying over the last 5 years I have gone out of my way to visit la Canorgue on an annual basis. I love the area, I love the vineyard, I love the wine, but I suffer the staff because of it. I understand the recent legacy of the place. I am aware they are overrun by the selfie generation who want only to snap conceited snaps due to its involvement with Russel Crowe and “A Good Year”.

For those of us who visit to purchase a case or more on regular visits I would really like to feel just a little appreciated. I’m sure that my custom is not a factor in whether they sink or swim but just once, how about an engaging chat or a thank you for returning.

The wines are excellent. The cave is a lovely respite from the August heat. And the surroundings lower my blood pressure significantly. Please go and enjoy the things on offer, just don’t expect a gracious response.

The wines are really good with a typical Luberon finger print - Coin Perdu by far the best and in my opinion underrated and quite a bargain - my two cases lasted less than a month, and either have to drive back soon or find a local pusher. Coin Perdu is too good to miss and knocks the socks of most competitors in the price range.

Visited late spring 2019 - and admittedly a massive fan of the film, so I had all the expected chills and emotional responses driving up entrance to the Chateau.

Would gladly spend a small fortune staying over night, so let this be an invitation to the owner to arrange such an exclusive option. Please PM me.

The cave was attractive and is in a beautiful setting but the chateau is marked Prive and forbids photographs of the chateau from the road ! The owners are apparently irritated by people coming to see the chateau who've seen the film A Good Year. I'd been really looking forward to this visit. If I'd not seen the film I'd have never heard of this chateau. I have little sympathy for the owners who've no doubt been paid handsomely to be a film location and then shun fans of the film who wish to visit. Believe it or not but fans of the film may also be there to appreciate the wine! I respected the Prive signs but would have so liked to have had chance to see the outside of this beautiful house. The Rose incidentally is really good and I bought several bottles but the visit could have been greatly improved.

..but had no idea about their wines. I learned about La Canorgue only recently when our b&b hosts at Le Jas du Boeuf offered Chateau La Canorgue's rosé as a welcome drink. This delightful discovery led to a visit and free tastings of their 2014 rouge, blanc, and Coin Perdu. A pity that I didn't look beyond the location's fame as a Hollywood set. They really do make wonderful wines that are affordable.

The gentleman who greeted us was very helpful, informing us during the tasting on how long we should wait to open the wine(s), and how long they could keep. Yes it's very cool that Russell Crowe once strutted around here, but the wines are the real stars at this place.
