Bike tour!
Jul 2021
We crossed this bridge almost at the end of our bike tour. Nice for passing by, but not worth for a detour.

Awe inspiring!
Spent a little time walking around and just taking it in.
It was very quiet which for such an important part of history was a real treat.
It’s a lovely spot to have a picnic and enjoy the history and tranquility ❤️

Interesting piece of history

I’m always flabbergasted when visiting old Roman artefacts which have survived 2000 years and are still almost in the same condition than they used to. Interesting to envision the part of Provence as being a very travelled place by many Finally this bridge stands in a nice area in the middle of multiple small roads wandering between villages (Lacoste, Menerbes, Lumières...).

A real Roman bridge
Feb 2020
We made a quick stop here on our way back to Lacoste from the Foret de Cedres. Fascinating architecture. You can bike over the bridge, and walk under it. It's a great place to come and be inspired to draw, paint, or you could have a picnic. Parking is available, and toilets. No cost. Fun for pix.

Worth a quick stop

Thanks to zero water in the river, you can walk down, over, and explore & touch every aspect of this ancient Roman bridge. Amazing to see the workmanship up close. Hard to believe cars were still using it not that long ago! Quiet and not busy at all.

Thought it would be bigger.

Interesting but smaller than we expected. Pity the river was dry, apart from patches of green water, will visit in wetter season. Surprised that no enterprising drink/snack trader had got a pitch.

This ancient bridge is pretty but not really more than a five minute visit. There is a fruit selling roadside shop nearby.

The romans and Gaul

We stoped there for a little while in our way across Luberon from Lourmarin to Roussillon .
It is amazing how after so many years this witness of the Roman engineering prowess is still standing .
It can’t be crossed by car but only seen from a distance

A Remnant of the Roman Empire

This bridge was built to carry the Via Domitia oner the Rivière du Calavon, connecting Rome with Gaul and Iberia. Still standing after 2000 years, the three arch bridge is a marvel of Roman engineering.
