The experience is good value. For ten euros you get a bit of history about the region, some info on how wines are made. A 4D film that is best described as bizarre. If you have children there are plenty of games to play and then a three glass tasting. I have been to better tastings but there is nothing really that lets this down.

I spent a quiet hour in the museum on a May morning learning a lot more about the complexity of grape and wine production. The explanation of the geological uniqueness of the Sancerre region was very well done and helpful, and I liked the personal stories of the growers related by video. And the overlook of the valley is worth the price of admission alone. Bought the book on the region; it's an excellent reference if you like great wine and want to know more about the intricacies of the process and their area history,

This museum/presentation was the best exhibition we saw of either wine or castles in three weeks of touring Burgundy and the Loire. The lit map showing the geography of the various domaines is brillliant - the colors change depending on the history, soil type, sun time, and so on of the plots - all explained in excellent English. Then there are short videos (subtitled in English) explaining the cultivation, harvests, and vinification by the vintners themselves, a charming and passionate lot. I particularly liked one old guy in his 80s who'd been making wine all his life yet was open to new methods. There are displays of everything from soil, root systems, and bugs for those wishing to be immersed in the process.
At the end, there is a tasting of one Sancerre wine, a good one - and you keep the glass - but a comparison of two or more would have demonstrated the complexity of the region. The garden patio where you can savor that one glass looks out over the beautiful land. The main thing I absorbed from this visit was the all-consuming joy and dedication of the vintners.

You might think this is just another second rate local museum, but it's certainly not! Follow the route round and you will definitely learn a lot about Sancerre wine making, even If you think you know it all! The exhibits are well maintained and simple but informative, and the "4D" film is mad but lots of fun. Unexpectedly we even got a free glass of wine at the end, though there are a few more to taste for a few Euros more.

This is well worth a visit and we spent an hour or so here. The children loved the 4D movie and the outside garden. I enjoyed learning more about the winemaking process and the glass of wine offered at the end.

We ended up at this museum by hazard, not supposed to visit Sancerre. This museum was a highly positive surprise. Set up in this tiny village of Sancerre, the explications on the wine (origins, process, history) are well described and very well supported by a talk on the area with 3D maquette, 4D movie (don't miss it, you'll be surprised!) and a flowery garden with The Tractor, to drive it like a farmer! Even for the adults we are, it was fun and entertaining! Ended up by a degustation of Sancerre wine. The receptionist was very helpful, and even gave us her opinion to find a local and gourmet restaurant in the area.

While in Sancerre I visited the museum. The exhibits were so informative about the history of the area, the soils that grow the grapes, the types of grapes grown, and changes over the years. The visit starts with a presentation of the land. Then with a 3d art form workers are projected in miniature as if harvesting right in front if you. Then in the other rooms they have art and videos of vintners throughout that you can look out. Outside there is a garden with a beautiful view showing different types of grapes. Once you end your visit it ends with a wine tasting from the region & the wine was fantastic! The visit was worth way more than the small fee we paid to go in. Aside from the wonders of the museum the woman working was so knowledgable, friendly & kind. Make sure to visit if you travel to Sancerre.

We had been to this place twice before but this time it was the best visit.
There was a 4D cinema, interactive room, big cave and a simulator( which kept our daughter occupied for 20 minutes.
The garden overlooking the valley with information boards was stunning.
The visit finished off with a glass of Sancerre!

Make sure you start your Sancerre experience here! Explained on a sound and light make exactly how this unique growing area came to be. There is also a 4D cinema experience that will definitely please children of all ages. Well worth a visit and the entry fee! If you come with a vigneron you can climb the tower too for a great view over Sancerre and the villages beyond! First class all of it!
