We were fortunate to arrive whilst the tide was in, and travelled to and back on the purpose built amphibious craft, which takes a few minutes. At low tide it is possible to walk across. There's lots to see on the island, the historic tower, which can be climbed via steep stairs, giving extensive views, plus gulls nesting on the... More

To be honest the main attraction of doing this trip was going on the duck boat that takes you to and from the island. Once there there is an interesting story to learn about the island's history. You need to allow 3 hours in my view (note no return sailing at 13.00 = Lunchtime!) Currently there is no catering of... More

We visited Tatihou on a Saturday afternoon, we caught 3pm boat, had a lovely wander round the gardens, visited the museum which was very interesting, walked around/in the German bunker, then into the tower which was fabulous, very well restored with great views on every floor, a steep long climb takes you up to the top floor. Worth every bit... More

Highly recommend taking this little detour from St. Vaast. Tatihou is a lovely, windswept island with some fortifications, a botanical garden and plenty of space to just walk around. You go across on an amphibious boat. Go into town, buy your tickets, have lunch and then spend half the day on Tatihou. Excellent activity with kids.

Lovely place to spend half a day. You can explore the fort, walk through the botanical gardens, see the museum, see historical sites, walk to the even smaller nearby island (during low tides). You can get to the island by walking or by taking amphibious. Every year in August, theres a world music festival during which people walk to and... More

Atmospheric island off the lovely harbour town of St Vaast La Hougue. Great views, ideal for picnics. Very limited amenities though which is a shame in high season. Nice botanical gardens.

This is well worth the trip - which is by amphibious watercraft (wheels when the tide is out, floats when the tide is in). The island itself holds many historical sites and it is a fairly easy walk. From an old fort to the laboratory to the retreat center, it peaks your interest. But, the schedule of the boat was... More

Overall a good and interesting visit, especially the trip there and back! But please be aware that unless you have booked there is nowhere to purchase any food or drink! Unbelievable but fact.

Great trip over on the amphibious vehicle. Island was interesting - could make the set of an awesome film! Loved the acoustics in the little chapel.
