About
THE 360° CINEMA Located on the Arromanches clifftops, the Arromanches 360 Circular cinema dominates the remnants of one of the two artificial Mulberry harbours set up by the Allies. A film of pure historical intensity.

- Maybe16Andover, United Kingdom155 contributionsGo on a wet day if you have nothing better to do!Although there are pictures all around (360 degrees), it is not an "as if I were there" experience (i.e. turn around to see behind you). The films shown on each screen are they same, albeit slightly different timing, or else "mirrored" to give the effect of being a different film. Not much of a commentary or detailed explanation.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 18, 2024
- GretaTravelsFlorida33 contributionsGood View Here out to the SeaThough we were likely influenced by the fact we've seen so much WWII history and been to numerous museums, we were non-plussed here. We felt it was nothing we hadn't seen before, it wasn't particularly well-done. The walk up the hill was worth it only for the view over what remains of the Mulberry Harbors and the town.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 2, 2024
- Steve MLondon, United Kingdom554 contributionsAn OK film but not worth the separate priceReally this was a disappointment. The 360 tech was engaging but the overall quality of the film did not justify a separate ticket price - films inside other museums were better - such as the Bayeux Battle of Normandy Museum. There are so many areas where it could have been improved but particularly the end was confusing. The nearby viewpoint, 75th anniversary garden and Royal Engineers memorial are worth the visit.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 6, 2024
- Jim D229 contributionsReally good place to visitLocated at the top of the cliffs overlooking the beaches, this museum has a good number of exhibits and explains the D-day story well. The cinema provides a really good back story. Overall a great experience to help understand this pivotal moment in WW2.Visited July 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 17, 2024
- RVJ10Wiltshire, United Kingdom92 contributionsDisappointing - not one to rush back toCompared to the film I saw several years ago this was disappointing - the original was immersive and poignant. This seemed rather a rushed version of events, 100 days following landing on the beaches - it missed the interest and horror of the actual landings, above which the museum is based. Immersive it is not, the screens are on ‘rotation’ and not all around you, so as you feel things come up from behind, the pictures are fairly grainy and all rather general and vague. The music and ending is almost distasteful - I was so looking forward to sharing my original experience with my daughter and had rather raved about its immersive, and in parts harrowing experience, that we both felt rather flat and uninspired when we left. The museum and staff are still good but I’d not rush back or recommend anyone to bother with this. All you saw in the A360 cinema you cld and wld have seen in any other museum you may choose to visit along the D Day route.Visited September 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 21, 2024

We bought the tickets as part of a package (Caen Memorial + A360). The concept was fine in terms of an immersive event... but the actual "story line" / purpose behind it didn't seem to make any particular sense. When our group of four adults left and discussed the attraction, none of us would recommend a visit to others.

Absolutely no interest. We took the combined memorial of Caen and Arromanches 360. Frankly a disappointment. Apart from the site where it is located I don't see what more it brings? Why 360° screens? Since we find the same image on another screen. The principle of 360 is to immerse you in the film here nothing. 20 minutes reviewing images, many already seen at the memorial. Honestly save your money to go to another museum like the Overlord museum in Colleville for example

Having been twice before and been emotionally overwhelmed on both occasions, the new film on offer was very very disappointing.
It may have told the story of the 100 day battle but it was confusing and disjointed. A veteran starts to speak and as he gets going with a quivering lip they cut away from him. It just didn’t work.
This is a series of film clips and still images which invoke no emotion. For sure they show some images of the cemeteries at Colleville and Bayeux but the film maker has utterly failed to draw you in to understand what their sacrifice was for
The worst thing was I recommended this attraction to 7 others who were to a person unmoved by the experience and between us wasted 56 euros
You may enjoy it but I would look at You Tube where there should be plenty of footage available

This 360° circular cinema is of no interest. It's a quick parade of archive photos. There are so many interesting museums in the region that I advise you to move on and save your €7 to visit another rather than spending 20 minutes in this 360° cinema.

Ticket purchased with access to the Caen Memorial. The Caen memorial offers a projection similar to that of Arromanches 360 during the visit
It's not a bit expensive for a screening of only 20 minutes and you have to put your hand in your pocket again for the parking space
The only interest is the view of the town of Arromanches on the landing beach and a place in Memory of the Allies

The 360° film in 9 screens is not visible unless you contort yourself throughout the film. It would have been better to use only 3 screens per language (French, English and German) and to provide audio headsets. The content of the film is seen and re-watched as soon as you have made one or two real museums dedicated to D Day of 6/6/44.
Paid parking, a real hassle to pay except with the application.

I’ve been to several museums in the area that have a 360 cinema and although this one is good the one at Caen is better. There is a small display of WW2 memorabilia and story boards as you enter the foyer. The gift shop is okay, the best part of the visit are the views out to sea and the town along with the memorial garden just outside the main building.

Great show, nice pace clever use of text and archive footage. Leads viewer through a journey of the Normandy campaign in easy bite size segments. Car parking is pricier than similar attractions.

Can you drive right up to this 360 Cinema & park. My parents are elderly, and the reviews seem to suggest it’s a steep climb up? Is there a free shuttle from town in both directions, perhaps?
Written August 28, 2019
There is a car Park next to it. Don’t climb the hill! Park up there. Worth finding it. Follow the signs. You kind go past it to reach it. Enjoy

Hi, thank you in advance for offering to answer a silly question. My wife and I will be visiting Normandy, Omaha & Utah beaches, and Arromanches next week. My question has to do with footwear. What would you recommend -- light boat shoes, sneakers, boots, water proof boots, etc.?
Written September 19, 2016
Hi - hiking shoes or sandals will be best, but sneakers are also fine. If you want to enter the sea (very cold) you need water proof shoes, but for sightseeing such will not be necessary.

Is this appropriate for a 6-year old girl?
Written November 9, 2015
I would say it depends on the 6 year old. I have 5 kids and some would have done fine while others would not. For most, I think it might be sensory overload. Noisy and stuff happening everywhere.
Whether a 6 year old can grasp the concept of war is another question. I would agree to wait until they are a little older.

I've seen on the museum website that they have the discount if you purchase tickets for both the Arromanches 360 and the Caen museum. Do you have to use both tickets the same day, or can you do Caen one day and Arromanches the next? We plan to stay in Bayeux.
Thanks!
