Young children are likely to get bored at this museum. Everything is inside glass displays with TONS of reading. Picture after picture of Civil War era.

Visiting the New Market Battlefield and Museum was a very well-done educational experience. Although the battlefield is rather small, it is easy to walk. The museum is very nice with some wonderful exhibits. The staff couldn't be more helpful. It is worth the time and money to spend some time here.

The museum at New Market was very interesting and informative. The best part is the actual battlefield and the houses make sure to go see the houses and walk the wheat fields. The children loved the movie and the displays. Overall a good stop when riding through Virginia.

This is a collection that has been accumulated by one man! And it is incredible. Well worth the price of admission. Allocate at least an hour or more to see this museum and to walk the battlefield. Museum is in the middle of the battlefield.

First see the movie about the battle, the visit the museum and after that go outside with the map you got when you bought your ticket and see the battle grounds. The poles correspond with the numbers on your map and you get a clear view of what happened here.

This museum not only gives an in-depth account of the battle which took place here but does a great job of putting the battle into the context of the whole Civil War. The displays are straightforward and very informative with a lot of excellent imagery. The farm home which was a focal point of the battle happened to be closed... More

This museum is a surprise. It is a private collection of mostly Civil War artifacts but includes Indian, WWI, WW2, and other areas of interest. For me the most amazing item was the 'dirty brown home manufactured' Confederate uniform of Private Theophilus Frank of Company B - 48th North Carolina Infantry . . . too many people think the Confederate... Not sure if this place is still open. I attempted to visit mid-day on a Tuesday in early April and the museum appeared to be "closed down". The gate was closed, no flags flying on the poles, no operating hours posted.......looked deserted. The radio information station posted on the highway still had a reminder that tickets purchased here did not... More

This was a nice self paced tour addressing many wars. There are a lot of artifacts and photos to examine. The entrance fee is nominal and is good for a few days so you can go back later. I didn't have time to do the grounds tour but will when we return.
