We were seeking a good, personal experience and got it with Nicaragua Dulce. When we travel we try to steer clear of the big group tours or the operators who are just feeding into a big main company where you end up with loads of people. We look for something personal where there is a focus on excellent service and experience and Nicaragua Dulce delivered. We took a walk down to the lake one day thinking we would just rent kayaks and head out. There were touts around trying to sell boat or kayak tours but we passed on those. The lake was incredibly windy so we scrapped that idea and walked back. Then I did a bit of searching and returned to a company I had seen a bit in my pre-trip research, Nicaragua Dulce. They offered kayaks in the isletas and those are protected from all the wind. Usually I book things like this far ahead but Nicaragua was more laid-back and most things seemed to book on arrival. Well, I contacted Nicaragua Dulce and got a swift response about doing a half-day tour. We booked and had a wonderful half day kayaking. We were pricked up promptly by the lovely owner and his daughter. He even told us about some trees as we were driving along in town and stopped to see an unusual ficus. We drove to the dock to take the short motorized boat ride to their private island. We had a nice welcome juice and some green mango to eat and enjoyed chatting with them. We saw Cashew, their rescue monkey. Then we took off in the kayaks for a relaxing and comfortable paddle around Las Isletas. It was both peaceful and informative. We saw a cool tree they have dubbed "the rain tree" and plenty of birds and aquatic plants. We took a double kayak so we could be together. It was comfortable and fun to paddle around. When we returned to their island we went for a nice swim in the lake. It wasn't too cold and they have built of a sandy area off shore so that you aren't mucking around in mud. That was a relaxing part of the morning. Then we heard Cashew's story and met him (He was in his enclosure for the day as they were doing maintenance on the island that involved chemicals that would have been dangerous to him--paint and termite spray, and such). We had some more juice and returned to Granada in time to go get lunch. The owner's enthusiasm for nature shone through in both the island and his interactions with us. We had a wonderful day and would love to return, perhaps for a stay on the island in their EcoLodge.

Flavia was incredibly communicative prior to our trip, we booked from the US & she was happy to answer my several questions in advance. She picked us up promptly at 9AM from our hotel and took us to the dock. After being introduced to our host, we were off for a day at a private island. We were lucky that we were the only 2 that booked the trip for the day so we had the entire private island to ourselves. The staff at the island catered to us, hand in foot. The food was locally sourced and quite delicious. There are several options of things to do while there from kayaking to lounging in a hammock. It was the perfect birthday spent! My suggestions, practice your Spanish :) the staff knew minimal English, bring bug spray & be ready for fun. Flavia's father picked us up from the port and took us back to our hotel. He too, was very friendly & talked to us about Cashew the monkey. Flavia & her family have a wonderful island, taking much pride in it. I loved how this company sources food locally and employs locals to run the resort, that says a lot!

This tour operator took us to zopango island for an unforgettable day trip! We found them online and they organised everything for us, replying always very quickly. They gave us a personalized service all day long from private transport to warm welcome at the island. High standards and lovely attentions by the owners and their staff. Angelica cooked us a super delicious BBQ of fish and kids played all day with cashew the monkey who is free and who loves napping with you in a hammock etc. This ecotourism operator is the specialist of the Isletas and we recommend it strongly to you travelers!

I visited the Isletas with 5 friends and i book a kayak trip through Nicaragua Dulce for this past sunday. Their guide was very knowledgeable and especially for birds, and the kayaks fun to use and very stable. The larger ones were taken by some of my friends and they thought they were comfy as they had special spaces to put bags, drinks and all. We gave a banana to the spider monkey in Asese harbour, so cute she is.

They picked us up at 6:30 am and brought us to the marina. We were outfitted with lifejackets and kayaks and sent on our way. It was cool to paddle around the various islands. We saw very modest homes as well as very big fancy homes. We saw lots of birds, only one monkey. It's a nice way to see the islands and get some exercise too.
