I recently traveled as a solo traveler to Nicaragua with the incredible team at See the World in Color. This trip was everything I could have dreamed of and so much more! The accommodations were beyond amazing, and we were taken care of every step of the way, while still having plenty of time for independent exploring! William, Ally, and Jason shared their love of the country and culture by taking us to out of the way local spots, and introducing us to some wonderful local people. We were able to take in the beauty of an active volcano, kayak in a dormant volcanic lake, ride horses through cacao and plantain plantations, and soak on millions of stars in the sky! We enjoyed restaurants, dancing, and beautiful architecture and shops in historic Granada. All of these memories and more are captured expertly by Jason, a super talented professional photographer! I can not wait to go back and vacation with See the World in Color again! I highly recommend them!

My husband and I traveled with Bill & Ally and had the most amazing experience! Not only is the country beautiful, but Bill & Ally went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and accommodate our traveling styles. My husband is more adventurous, and I am a bit more laid back. We had the opportunities to do both, and spend time together or alone; hiking, swimming; exploring; shopping; eating; or lounging with a good book. The food was fresh and delicious, and the people of Nicaragua were all very friendly. Traveling with seasoned professionals who know the country and the language intimately was priceless! We hope to return in the next year or so with our kids, and we know that we will be in trustworthy and caring hands!

If you are up for an adventure and trip of a lifetime you must travel with See the World in Color. They put so much thought and excitement into creating an adventure with memories that will last a lifetime. The Nicaragua Experience is one like no other we have ever experienced. Where else can you go and walk on secluded beaches, peek into live volcanoes and catch your first wave? This country has untouched beauty and wonder that I never knew could exist until I saw it for myself. The crew at See the World in Color map out this experience to allow you the opportunity to see and explore this wonderful place without every feeling the rush of your typical guided tour. You will have all of the comforts of your own home and so much more! It is amazing how wonderful and welcoming the Nicaraguan people are. You have the opportunity to interact and support local businesses while truly be a part of their culture. I don't want to forget to mention that the cuisine there is amazing!! I will be going back in the very near future and hope that others travel with See the World in Color to experience all the beauty & history Nicaragua has to offer.

Visiting Nicaragua was never really on our radar but when we saw this tremendous opportunity from See the World in Color, we thought we would give it a whirl mostly because it sounded like a lot of vacation for a really great price. Aside from the price point, the fact that it was all arranged and led by Bill, Ally and Jason, all Spanish speakers with years of experience with and a deep affection for the Nicaraguan people we felt that we would be in good hands. They put together a package that is so affordable it's kind of mind boggling how much they packed into it. The accommodations and itinerary were amazing! The first place that we stayed was the beautiful Casa Orquidea, a spectacular private bed and breakfast overlooking the Pacific with breathtaking views and the sounds of exotic birds all around. Some meals were cooked by our private chef Sylvia who came in the morning and served family style breakfast and lunch featuring recipes from her nearby family restaurant. Aside from baking in the sun and enjoying the infinity pool, there were many activities to enjoy, among them visiting the nearby town San Juan Del Sur, a laid back surfing community filled with sundries stores, surf kids with dreads, hip little restaurants and stores and plenty of clubs to wet your whistle and hear some tunes. We visited the Christ of Mercy statue overlooking the shore, had surfing lessons, explorations of secluded beaches and when we moved on to Granada-a carriage ride through the historic old city, a boat ride on lake Nicaragua where we then hiked up part of a volcano and rode horses the rest of the way to the exquisite view from the top where we ate a box lunch. We swam in a dormant volcano (Laguna de Apoyo), and visited and looked over the rim of an ACTIVE VOLCANO! One of the sweetest and most fun parts of the trip was staying at the Mansion de Chocolate where I had a chocolate massage and facial (massage included in package) learned to make chocolate the Mayan way and had one of the most epic and memorable birthdays of my life. I laughed so hard and had so much fun I will never forget! There is so much included in this trip, so many beautiful places to see, so many priceless experiences, including interacting with the Nicaraguan people. This trip will bring you to a very special land, filled with history, natural beauty, music, art, amazing food, stunning old architecture, warm, loving and inviting people who have a smile and an "hola" or "buenos dias" for everyone they meet. I loved Granada the most. It is bright and colorful and alive while being old and stately at the same time. I loved the way families seemed to gather in the square for lunches and living rooms opened out to the street and abuelos and abuelas sat in their easy chairs smiling at passersby. Nicaruagua is beauty and magic and if you want to have an experience there that will bring you into the real Nicaragua, where you will get to know people by their first name, where even if you don't speak the same language, you understand, where you will have friends when you leave, then this trip is for you. One caveat: driving is INSANE down there! You won't have to do any but be really careful crossing the streets. Other than that.. have an amazing time..
