I’ve lived on the corner in front of this church for years. Great place for an incredible photo at sunrise when the sunrises and shines on the church. Beautiful inside as well

Couldn't find steps to tower, so I hope that you look better than me if you are reading this. There were a couple of people praying and children playing but def not as the main church.

Makes for great photos
Dec 2019
You may think that the Guadalupe Church is dirty and unkempt but it actually makes for great photos. We came right after the sun was setting in the blue hours, it makes for great photos. It is located on the end of the busy pedestrian street.

We were here and all the kids around the area were going to school. It was nice to see everyone out and about and it made for great pictures.

Go up the Tower!!
Feb 2018
The views from up in the tower are incredible! It's a tight, winding staircase up, but so worth it. Beautiful!!!

I found this church by walking around the city .. It was magnificent.. Yes it is old Built in 1626 by the monk Fray Benito Baltodano, it was originally used as a cloister. The Iglesia of Guadalupe was used as a fortress by William Walker in 1856.
I sat there by the staircase .. and looking at the people.. Once again Nicaragua people are fine people. A guy drove here to pickup his GF and say Hi to me when he leaves..I don't even know him Just such a wonderful people.

Used as a fortress by William Walker
Mar 2018 • Couples
Positioned between the center of Granada and the Malecon, the Guadalupe Church is worth the walk. The white limestone exterior is haunting in its simplicity, and the interior is captivating. Fun fact: the building was used by Filibuster William Walker during his campaign in Nicaragua.

Again, if you are interested in history or architecture, you should take a walk in. It's close by and worth the time.
