Beautiful views
Dec 2020
This is a lovely waterfront area overlooking Lake Nicaragua. It is a popular spot to go for a walk and there are sometimes food vendors there on weekends and public holidays. There is seating scattered around the area and the place is nicely landscaped. This is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the main part of Granada. We don’t recommend walking around here at night due to safety concerns, but during the day it’s fine.

Best at Sunrise
Mar 2020 • Solo
I’ve been walking here at sunrise in the mornings for years. Absolutely beautiful as the sun comes up. Gets a little hot later in the day. Best to visit in the morning or later in the day around sundown

Nice walk
Jan 2018
It is really nice to walk the Malecón. Mostly earlier mornings. Be prepared with water, and don’t expect to find a washroom, don’t exist.

A pretty drive
Mar 2018 • Business
Although not grand, a drive along the Malecon is nevertheless charming and relaxing. Good views of the surroundings and the local people out enjoying the sunshine.

could be improved
Nov 2017 • Couples
the malecon in granada has seen better days and is lacking in new development. it is pretty and scenic and you can tell that it was beautiful at one time. With a little effort and a relocation of some of the tourist services, this could be the best part of granada

Parts are rundown and littered with rubbish
Feb 2018 • Couples
This is quite a walk from the centre and it is very debateable whether it is worth the walk.

Certainly during weekdays, the area is largely deserted apart from groups of youths loitering around and incessant questioning from boat owners trying to persuade you to take a trip on their particular boat or single males pushing tours of the city. We understand that the area is much busier with families at weekends.

Some parts of the Malecon are relatively new, others many years old and looking quite rundown; there is rubbish everywhere. The only particularly enjoyable bit was a bar/restaurant on the front which was very busy with local people and we spent a while watching local fisherman just offshore bringing in their catch.

Shamefully dirty major tourist attraction
Jan 2018 • Family
We spent four days at the Malecon location, and walked many times a day on the Malecon. While the lake and the view are lovely, the garbage everywhere is most disturbing. Both side of the road is full ovf all kind of garbage. Near the road, stagnant water stinks of garbage. Even parks designated as children's play area are full of garbage. There are stray dogs and their drppings everywhere. Frankly I was aghast, why the City does not clean up such an importantant an potencially beautiful site.

Nice Place to Stop and Enjoy the Breeze Off the Lake
May 2016
After walking from uptown Granada all the way down the street to the lake, the malecon is a nice place to stop at the wall and just enjoy the breeze coming off the lake. Not much to do really, but the view is nice.

White herons on the shore line
Mar 2017 • Solo
Granada's malecon is a pleasant walk away from the busy center. Often there is a breeze. Though there are high palm trees there is not a lot of shade, so bring an umbrella or some protection against the unrelenting sun. The view over the lake is superbe. White herons are busy looking for fish and in the distance you can see mountains. Security has recently been improved a lot. In the evening the malecon is well lit and there are security guards on bikes with lamps to protect the tourists.
The city authorities have understood their job well. I wished they would address noise levels in the city now.
