We came here 20 months ago and the sand was infested with flies! Having recovered from covid and more people about the flies have virtually disappeared. The sand is soft and the sea is clear making it more attractive for the tourists.

Remains a lovely beach where you can make good walks. At low tide one can get pretty far in the sea. Great sunset scenery (and eventually pictures) from the beach. Beach is pretty clean.

I enjoyed walking from one end to the other. Some nice resorts along the beach. I tossed up between staying here or Kai Bae beach but went with Kai Bae.

Not been to this beach area for a few years but it has definitely changed. The sandy beach and blue waters are still attractive but all of a sudden there are loads of sand flies and mosquitoes which doesn’t make for pleasant paddling or sun bathing.

So glad it is open again and so beautiful in November. Really a great beach to enjoy the sand, enjoy the rocky areas and to relax. Parking a scooter was easy.

Beautiful beach with many sand flies and moscitos. Easy swimming but currents can occur. Less packed than white beach or lonely beach

I like this place! You can wander on the order, enjoy the beautiful scenery. It pacifies, calms. A good place to relax with friends and family as well as alone

One of the best beaches on Koh Chang. Even on high tide there was enough space for laydown and walking.

Khlong Prao Beach is peaceful, quiet and pretty in a rustic natural way. The tide brings the sea right up in the morning, and by evening it’s gone out a way enabling you to walk along the beach on the sand in the afternoon. It’s so peaceful here; even with some busy resorts, you still don’t have people swimming by you. Soft sand, shallow for ages so safe swimming. No tall buildings spoiling the look of nature. Great little local places to eat at the quieter end near Santhiya Tree resort. Walking further south there are more hotels, Emerald and Dewa get busier, but still not as crowded as other islands. More beach bars and places to eat as you pass these hotels. I’d thoroughly recommend this beach if you want a quiet peaceful time.

we loved this beach and also white sands but we preferred white sands because it had too many options for bar restaurants shop around the beach. be was clean and not as crowded as white sands. the lonely beach we hated it (the road was too risky to drive, waves and too too dirty,10 single sleepers in 100m distance).

Which part is nicest on Klong Prao beach for swimming, North or South??

We were in the southern part most of the time, if your hungry go to the ‘family’ restaurant on the beach, we ate there twice in the day and twice at night, at night it is so romantic. Don’t go to the Dewa restaurant on the beach next door, it’s very expensive and food not as good and not at all romantic.
Get a role up straw mat, a couple of towels and walk along the beach to find your ideal spot, and don’t forget to be there about 5pm for the sunset, it’s amazing.

Bonjour, Je voudrais savoir si cette plage n'est pas votre préférée, laquelle avez-vous le plus apprécié.
Nous sommes intéressés par un logement sur la plage de Kai Bae.

Boat rental from ferry/harbour to Koh Chang?
We are arriving quite late to the harbour where the ferry goes to Koh Chang, is there any way to rent a boat that can take a family with 2 adults and 3 children to Koh Chang at approximately 21.00 in the evening, on Dec 29?
Any recommendations are much apppreciated!
Best regards,
Rikard Gothe

Hi! I’m very sorry I didn’t answer your question earlier! Maybe your journey has ended already?! I’m pretty sure there won’t be any problem to rent a boat but I guess you would have to book it at the internet before you start your journey.
I wish you the best of luck!
Can I watch CNN at any bar on Klong Prao Beach?

No!, but some bar / restaurants may have a tv, it will also depend if they have cable or not and what company they are using.

Hi, an average price fish meal with a fresh coconut can be between 400 and 500 baht.
All restaurants, beach or road have more or less the same prices. There are two really cheap seafood restaurants on the road .

How bad are the sand fleas on the beach ? Is there anything you can do to avoid them. My wife has an allergic reaction to their bites.

Hi sand flies are a pain the world over. There isn't a lot you can do. Some suggestions; cover up, not a lot of use in the midday sun I know, avoid dawn and dusk visits, get a really powerful mossy spray, if you are lucky and it is windy go out then, finally stay away from the beach. I don't think Klong Prao is particularly prone to Sandflies. I have been there 4 times, each visit lasting for around 10 days. I have had one bad Sandfly experience

There is songtaew going both south and north bound all the time along the main road on the western part of the island. Just wave at them and they will stop and pick you up.
