Before I wrote this review I read some of the prior ones and was particularly interested in the one titled "drunk and unhealthy instructors". Just so you know I don't have a dog in this fight other than to say I'm always concerned for the safety of the divers. I'm 54 years old a little overweight and have an above the knee left leg amputation. I hold 16 PADI certifications my two highest being master diver and dive master ( yes there is a difference). I have dived all over the world both wet and dry technical and recreational as well as commercial. I have met some fantastic divers and know enough not to judge people by their appearance. If you go by mine I guess you might ask what the hell is this guy doing on my dive trip. I live in Thailand in the central part and drive down to Koh Chang for R&R. I have been getting my air fills at the Scandinavian Chang dive center for four years. I never spent a lot of time in the shop (about as long as it takes to fill two tanks) every one always acted very professional. A couple weeks ago right before the new year holiday I decided to give them a shot and go on a dive trip this was my experience.
Because I have all my own gear I was able to make a price with Andy the shop manager for 2000 baht for **2 dives** (that's about $60 USD). I booked my trip for January 2, 2017 everybody was on time and we were able to board the dive boat without any problems. The dive boat itself was an excellent repair and the facilities were top notch. If you dive a lot you know many times the dive masters and instructors will also crew but they had a separate crew that were Thai and did an excellent job. All And all there were three crewmembers and six instructors. Because of the language barrier (and believe me there were many) there's not a lot of communication or camaraderie at the beginning. Russia America Finland Ireland Austria Germany England Denmark Thailand ( No joke). If you rush to judgment you may think people are cold but no one knows by looking at your face what language you speak. The instructors made a special effort to accommodate my handicap and to tell you the truth were probably a little too concerned and helpful ( I get embarrassed easily). It's about an hour and a half to the shipwreck so there's plenty of time to get to know everyone. At that time I was introduced to Kimo a PADI dive instructor from Finland. Kimo is also EMT certified from America and when he's not serving as a dive instructor in Thailand he's an emergency medical technician in Finland. My first impression was this giant of a man was a little soft spoken and very helpful. There is more instructors than necessary so they put one to oversee all the wreck divers. I don't have an exact number and not everybody was qualified to dive the wreck i'm guessing about 20 divers and five instructors. Kimo acted as my dive master and was very tentative. He dived a slightly higher profile so he could oversee and not be intrusive. He's diving his computer so we dived a multilevel profile. The wreck itself is the HTMS Chang formerly the Lincoln county a gift from the USA after World War II purposely sunk when it was retired to act as an artificial reef. I highly recommend the dive. The ship is large and intact and supports a myriad of sea life. I haven't dove in a little over 10 months so we didn't penetrate too deep but it was fun just the same. Kimo dives a wreck reel and a lift bag so he came prepared if we wanted to go deeper. His technique was flawless and I mean flawless it kind of pissed me off lol. His air usage (a clear indicator of health and vigor) was half mine. Our bottom time was long so he did two safety stops and shared air with me just to be safe. I couldn't help but feel what an asset he was to the divers on the trip. The second dive was a reef dive and you had an option to navigate underwater from another shipwreck (Thai gun boat) to the coral heads or drop directly down which is what I did. I'm not sure how many of you have experienced underwater navigation, Christine from Ireland lead that group and talking to everybody afterwards she did an excellent job. Navigating a distance underwater is a talent and let's face it pretty thrilling. There were a group of boys from England that did their open water certification here and afterwords we're obviously hooked on diving. That says a lot about their English speaking Thai instructor. I also met a father from Austria about 10 years younger than me a lifetime diver with a big gut diving with his 12-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter he works as a controller for a small city. Andy who is from Germany spent a lot of time with the family so they would feel at ease. When you're putting your children in the water under someone else's care there has to be trust. One point I made to my wife that night was how much food was served. Fried chicken, macaroni salad, rice, fruit and vegetables. All kinds of stuff to eat. I purposely don't eat a lot but couldn't resist the fried chicken at the insistence from Kimo. There was also coffee tea Pepsi orange Fanta and of course freshwater and plenty of ice. It was all you can eat and drink and everyone went back for seconds after the last dive. Oh that's right I said **2 dives**, no, there was an optional third dive on another coral head that was spectacular my most memorable in Thailand. It was afternoon and the sea life was abundant. The trip home was full of laughter and everyone including the 12-year-old boy was 10 foot tall. I for one am planning on going back to dive two tanks on the Chang. My plan is to penetrate deeper into the wreck. Unfortunately Kimo Will be back in Finland saving lives so he won't be around to go with me. I would've felt better if he was going to be there. Like I said I don't have a dog in this fight other than safety. Everyone has a different take on things. As far as risky behavior I have stories about my early Mexico dive trips I could tell. Sorry about the length of this review but I was worried someone may have given the wrong impression.

Bf and I just did our advanced diving certification with chang diving. We had undivided attention from our diving instructor Pern. He was professional, effective and genuine, always making sure that we know the essentials. It was a light hearted 2 day advanced certification course, with great wreck and reef dives! Strongly recommend this dive shop and thanks to Pern who's our passioante and inspiring diver

First of all ! I love big boat. They have big one that full with equipments and space for us to change, eat, relax during the dive.
They also arrange hotel pickup that is very comfortable for people who stay far away from dive centre.
Staffs are very nice, professional and supportive including receptions, boat guys and divers.
They also provide me dive computer ( that sometime you have to pay extra for rental ).
Dive sides are so amazing ! I love HTMS wreck dive side the most!
Highly recommend!!

Terrible diving center.
It is hard to know where to start to describe how bad it was but to give you an idea, these guys have two website with two different prices for the same course (padi open water).
At the end of the dive they tried to charge us extra claiming that the price on the old website was old and that they didn't car about it.
And also they threaten us to call the police on us.
Otherwise our instructor didn't really teach us anything and were making us feel stupid when we were asking questions.
Everybody in our group was disappointed with this costly experience :(. I wish I had selected other diving school!

Me, my sister and my boyfriend were diving with scandinavian divers two times during our stay at koh chang and we were all very happy with those two days. We had good and safe dive masters with us and there were high service overall! Me and my boyfriend planned to go diving a third time on a wreck but my boyfriend got very sick the day before, it wasnt any problem to change day or even get our money back.
Thanks!

Chang Diving Center did a great job taking care of us. My buddy and I are veteran dive Instructors from the Florida Keys here doing some fun diving. Andy (owner/operator) with typical German efficiency, had us picked up from our hotel EXACTLY when he said. Short ride out to the beach where the crew in a small boat, transferred us to the dive boat. Very comfortable ride out to the dive sites. Our guide "Neung" was very friendly and professional in his duties. He was very skilled at communicating with divers of varying skill levels and attitudes. The Captain and crew were all friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is against the other divers. No one else bothered to tip the crew. These people who were so good to us depend on gratuity to support their families. We were the only ones I saw who tipped the crew.
