Salwar kameez/punjab suit ? (10 Replies)
I am travelling to India and will be in Rishikesh for 5 days before moving on to several more cities on my tour. I wanted to get a couple of casual wear suits while I am there, as I know they will be cheaper than in the Indian boutiques here in Toronto. I read that most shops in Swarg Ashram area are more bohemian-hippie clothes for tourists, but I was wondering if there would also be some places where I could get some nice local clothes as well? Also, would anyone know the ballpark...More

Single female safety in Rishikesh (10 Replies)
Hello, I wonder if anyone can comment on the safety of wandering Rishikesh - High Bank, Ram Jula, Muni - ki - reti(forgive spelling) on my own? Do I need to avoid the quieter streets? If I attend an evening yoga class and need to return to hotel after dark will this be a concern? Also any thoughts on a clean, safe hotel would be appreciated - I am considering the Nirvana Palace in Swarg Ashram area. Thanks!

Yes you should avoid any quieter streets and avoid traveling alone in Night. Also keep mobile numbers of your friends in India if any.

Kankhal is nearby Haridwar, it can be done by taxi or Auti-Rickshaw take 1 hr max for the journey and visit. Swarg Ashram is in Rishikesh, the opposite bank of Ganga. You may go by walk across the Ram Jhula or by boat. Takes an hour (from Rishikesh).
