The Natural Bridge Zoo Park is and always has been privately owned and has never accepted any sort of federal, state, or local funding. The Natural Bridge Zoo opened its doors to the general public in 1972 and has been growing ever since. The main purpose for Natural Bridge Zoo has always been the propagation and rearing of threatened or endangered species. We try to offer students and the general public the opportunity to learn about the living animals, birds, and reptiles that share the earth with us. Many children have little or no contact with natural living things in their daily lives. While television programs are educational, there is nothing like standing next to a giraffe, getting nuzzled by a llama, hugging a baby dromedary camel, or gazing into the eyes of a huge white tiger to make you feel and appreciate our wonderful world of animals.

We have been here numerous times over the years. It's always a really nice place to go when they have baby animals. We have been able to pet baby tigers and baby camels and it was awesome. Some of the cages are fairly small for some of the bigger animals, which I'm not a huge fan of because they need... More

Great collection of animals here. I always love walking through a place like this and thinking, "This is someone's dream that came to fruition." Animals looked very healthy and well cared for. Would definitely go again.

We visited the Zoo with family who had been before and liked it. I understand why. This is quite delightful - small but with interesting features. We really liked the bird sanctuary where you could enter and feed and enjoyWe also loved the giraffes. Worth a visit.

We stopped in on our way to Lexington VA. My wife loves this zoo because of the ability to get fairly close to the animals and take pictures. We spent a very nice hour walking thought all the zoo. Think there was only one other couple there so no crowds. Animals were out and about so easy to spot and... More

Visited with children aged 4, 11, and 14. They watched quietly and then one by one compared the life of the animals there (unable to roam freely or with others of their species, ie.) to the way my kids see them in all the nature shows, and were deeply affected. It was heartbreaking for my children when they realized how... More

This poor female elephant has lived here alone, without other elephants! She has had to endure giving rides to children and adults, even when it during very hot outdoor temperatures. This dear elephant should not be without a herd of elephants. She should be released to an elephant refuge.

I took my three kids age 5, 5, and 3 to this zoo and the highlights of the visit for them were feeding different kinds of animals (camels, llamas, goats, parakeets). I would describe it as more of a farm instead of a zoo. When i picture a zoo, i picture sidewalks and caretakers available to talk about the animals.... More

I have to say kudos to this zoo!! They are privately owned and they do great. We got to hold a baby monkey. My daughter loves elephants and she was able to ride on one. She had to make sure that the elephant was well taken care of on top of that.

If you are an animal lover stay far away from this place! I would never recommend this place to anyone! I had went down to Natural Bridge during a family vacation. My niece wanted to visit the Safari (which surprisingly was not bad). We had a little extra time so I took my teenage niece and toddle niece to this... More
