Went and visited George Washington home in Mount Vernon and thought it was really interesting. When we went through his mansion and they had tour guides throughout the the home telling you about the different rooms. The tour of the mansion last about 20 minutes. Even though the mansion was under repair it didn't take away anything from the tour.... More

I recently visited Mount Vernon for their Sunset Escape in June. It was so much fun! Mount Vernon is in the most picturesque location and there is so much to see and do, that one visit will not cover it all! I enjoyed my visit so much that I bought a membership! Don't miss it if you are here visiting... More

I was really excited about visiting Mount Vernon but was incredibly disappointed to find the entire place under construction. There was scaffolding around the entire facade of the building and the grounds were dug up. Rude construction workers and the sound of JCBs were the backdrop to my visit. There was no mention of this ongoing work on the website... More

Thank you for visiting George Washington's Mount Vernon and for sharing this review. We are sorry that you were disappointed with your visit. The roof of George Washington's home is currently undergoing a much needed stripping and repainting. The Mansion is over 200 years old and unfortunately these repairs are necessary (though admittedly not ideal) for all historic homes. There... More

Had a great visit at Mount Vernon among our 3 generations. Everybody enjoyed the tour. It was a very hot day, but there was some air conditioning relief, including the mansion tour! The grounds and the other buildings were well maintained and very attractive. Must have visited DC over a dozen other times and this was my first time at... More

My cousin took me there on my last day in D.C. It was her 5th time so she knows pretty much everything there. The estate is huge and has such beautiful views and gardens. I absolutely loved the view of the Potomac river. So many beautiful flowers there and lots of big trees. I wish I had more time to... More

We traveled to various places such as Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello, Jamestown, so all our stops tied our history lesson together. I did feel like I needed 2 days at Mt Vernon because I felt to do the tours and see the events you couldn't do it one day. Also since some ticketed events were free but closed to where I... More

This place was amazing. You are walking on the grounds of our first president. The house is under construction on the outside so that part was disappointing but it's needed. You still get to take the house tour. The house tours are every 10 min. but they were 30-45 min. behind on the time you bought the day we were... More

Mount Vernon is amazing. It is the original wood structure that George Washington's family built. Be prepared to do lots of walking and take great pictures. The restaurant is outstanding but a little pricey. They do also offer a food court with a Pizza Hut and other fast foods.

This living history museum is also home to the George Washington Presidential Library. It is amazingly NOT a National Park. It is privately owned, operated and Maintained by the "Ladies". A small group of women who have worked since the 1850's to restore and maintain the property. The Mount Vernon Ladies Association has worked tirelessly without federal monies to bring... More
